18WATER F ILTER (SELECT MODELS )Removal and InstallationTo avoid serious illness or death, do not userefrigerator where water is unsafe or of unknownquality without adequate disinfection before or afteruse of filter.WARNINGAfter installing a new water filter, alwaysdispense water for two minutes beforeremoving the filter for any reason. Air trapped insystem may cause water and cartridge to eject.Use caution when removing.• The bypass cap does not filter water. Be sure tohave replacement cartridge available when filterchange is required.• If water filtration system has been allowed tofreeze, replace filter cartridge.• If system has not been used for several months, orwater has an unpleasant taste or odor, flushsystem by dispensing two to three glasses ofwater. If unpleasant taste or odor persists, changefilter cartridge. If system has not been use forthree months or more, replace water filtercartridge.CAUTION3. Rotate gently clockwise untilfilter stops. Snap filter coverclosed.4. Reduce water spurts byflushing air from system.Run water continuously fortwo minutes throughdispenser until water runs steady. During initialuse, allow about a one- to two-minute delay inwater dispersal to allow internal water tank to fill.• Additional flushing may be required in somehouseholds where water is of poor quality.Replacing Water FilterImportant: Air trapped in system may cause waterand cartridge to eject. Always dispense water for twominutes before removing the filter for any reason. Usecaution when removing.1. Turn filter counterclockwise until it releases fromfilter head.2. Drain water from filter into sink, and dispose innormal household trash.3. Wipe up excess water in filter cover and continuewith Initial Installation, steps 2 through 4.The filter should be changed at least every 12 months.Important: Condition of water and amount useddetermines life span of water filter cartridge. If wateruse is high, or if water is of poor quality, replacementmay need to take place more often.To purchase a replacement water filter cartridge,contact your dealer or call 1-800-JENNAIR(1-800-536-6247) USA and Canada.The dispenser feature may be used without a waterfilter cartridge. If you choose this option, replace filterwith blue bypass cap.Initial InstallationThe water filter is located in theupper right-hand corner of the freshfood compartment.1. Remove blue bypass cap andretain for later use.2. Remove sealing label from endof filter and insert into filter head.
