11For crushed ice, cubes are crushed before being dispensed. Thismay cause a slight delay when dispensing crushed ice. Noisefrom the ice crusher is normal, and pieces of ice may vary in size.When changing from crushed to cubed, a few ounces of crushedice will be dispensed along with the first cubes.To dispense ice:1. Press the button to select the desired type of ice.2. Press a sturdy glass against the ice dispenser pad. Hold theglass close to the dispenser opening so ice does not falloutside of the glass.IMPORTANT: You do not need to apply a lot of pressure tothe pad in order to activate the ice dispenser. Pressing hardwill not make the ice dispense faster or in greater quantities.3. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.NOTE: Ice may continue to dispense for up to 10 secondsafter removing the glass from the pad. The dispenser maycontinue to make noise for a few seconds after dispensing.Dispenser Light (on some models)When you use the dispenser, the light will automatically turn on.If you want the light to be on continuously, you may choose eitherON or AUTO.ON: Press LIGHT to turn the dispenser light on.AUTO: Press LIGHT a second time to select AUTO mode. Thedispenser light will automatically adjust to become brighter as theroom brightens, dimmer as the room darkens.OFF: Press LIGHT a third time to turn the dispenser light off.The dispenser lights are LEDs that can not be changed. If itappears that your dispenser lights are not working, be sure thatthe light sensor is not blocked (in AUTO mode). See“Troubleshooting” for more information.Dispenser Lock (on some models)The dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoidunintentional dispensing by small children and pets.NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product,to the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivatesthe ice and water dispensers. To turn off the ice maker, see “IceMaker and Storage Bin.”■ Press and hold LOCK for 3 seconds to lock the dispenser.While the dispenser is locking, “LOCKING” will appear on thedisplay screen and the blue indicator light around the LOCKbutton will flash. When the dispenser is locked, the indicatorlight will change to red for a few seconds, then turn off.■ Press and hold LOCK a second time to unlock the dispenser.While the dispenser is unlocking, “UNLOCKING” will appearon the display screen and the red indicator light around theLOCK button will flash. When the dispenser is unlocked, theindicator light will change to blue for a few seconds, then turnoff.Water Filtration SystemDepending on your model, there may be a water filter indicator orwater filter status lights on the control panel. Follow theinstructions specific to your model.Water Filter Indicator (dispenser models)The water filter indicator, located on the control panel, will remindyou when it is time to order and replace the water filter.A new water filter should display a reading of 99%. The reading inthe display will decrease as the filter life is used. A replacementwater filter should be ordered when “Order Filter” is displayed.When “Change Filter” is displayed, a new water filter should beinstalled.The disposable water filter should be replaced every 6 monthsOR earlier if the flow of water to the water dispenser or ice makerdecreases noticeably.After changing the water filter, press and hold RESET for2 seconds until the indicator display changes to 99%. See “Usingthe Controls.”Water Filter Status Lights (non-dispenser models)The water filter status lights will remind you when it is time toorder and replace the water filter. When the Order Filter light ison, it is almost time to change the water filter. When the ReplaceFilter light is on, a new water filter should be installed.The disposable water filter should be replaced at least every 6months OR earlier if the flow of water to the ice maker decreasesnoticeably.After replacing the water filter, press and hold RESET FILTER for3 seconds. The Good light will turn on when the filter trackingfeature is reset. See “Using the Controls.”Changing the Water FilterThe water filter is located in the base grille below the freezercompartment door. It is not necessary to remove the base grilleto remove the filter.1. Remove the filter by pressing the eject button and pullingstraight out on the filter cap.NOTES:■ Avoid twisting the cap when removing the filter becausethis could cause the cap to come off. If this occurs,replace the cap and pull the filter straight out.Cut HazardUse a sturdy glass when dispensing ice.Failure to do so can result in cuts.WARNINGDo not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or ofunknown quality without adequate disinfection before orafter the system.
