6Cabinet Dimensions*For non-vented (recirculating) installationsIMPORTANT:Minimum distance “X”: 24" (61.0 cm) from electric cookingsurface.Minimum distance “X”: 30" (76.2 cm) from gas cookingsurface.Suggested maximum distance “X”: 36" (91.4 cm)NOTE: For best performance of the Auto Sense feature, therange hood should be installed at 24" (61.0 cm) from an electriccooking surface and 30" (76.2 cm) from a gas cooking surface. The chimneys can be adjusted for different ceiling heights. Seethe following chart.*NOTE: The range hood chimneys are adjustable and designedto meet varying ceiling or soffit heights depending on thedistance “X” between the bottom of the range hood and thecooking surface. For higher ceilings from 10' 4" to 12' (3.24 m to3.66 m), a Stainless Steel Chimney Extension Kit Part NumberW10646864 is available from your dealer or an authorized partsdistributor. The chimney extension replaces the upper chimneyshipped with the range hood.Venting Requirements(vented models only)■ Vent system must terminate to the outdoors, except for non-vented (recirculating) installations.■ Do not terminate the vent system in an attic or other enclosedarea.■ Do not use 4" (10.2 cm) laundry-type wall cap.■ Use metal vent only. Rigid metal vent is recommended.Plastic or metal foil vent is not recommended.■ The length of vent system and number of elbows should bekept to a minimum to provide efficient performance. For the most efficient and quiet operation:■ Use no more than three 90° elbows.■ Make sure there is a minimum of 24" (61.0 cm) of straightvent between the elbows if more than 1 elbow is used.■ Do not install 2 elbows together.■ Use clamps to seal all joints in the vent system.■ The vent system must have a damper. If the roof or wall caphas a damper, do not use the damper supplied with the rangehood.■ Use caulking to seal exterior wall or roof opening around thecap.■ The size of the vent should be uniform.Cold Weather InstallationsAn additional back draft damper should be installed to minimizebackward cold air flow and a thermal break should be installed tominimize conduction of outside temperatures as part of the ventsystem. The damper should be on the cold air side of the thermalbreak. The break should be as close as possible to where the ventsystem enters the heated portion of the house.Makeup AirLocal building codes may require the use of makeup air systemswhen using ventilation systems greater than specified CFM of airmovement. The specified CFM varies from locale to locale.Consult your HVAC professional for specific requirements in yourarea.Venting MethodsThis canopy hood is factory set for venting through the roof orwall.A 6" (15.2 cm) round vent system is needed for installation (notincluded). The hood exhaust opening is 6" (15.2 cm) round.A 6" to 8" (15.2 cm to 20.3 cm) vent adapter is available for 8"(20.3 cm) vent systems. See the “Assistance or Service” sectionto order.Vent system can terminate either through the roof or wall. To ventthrough a wall, a 90° elbow is needed.Rear dischargeA 90° elbow may be installed immediately above the hood.Vented InstallationsMin. ceiling height Max. ceiling heightElectric cookingsurface7' 10" (2.39 m) 10' 4" (3.24 m)Gas cookingsurface8' 4" (2.54 m) 10' 4" (3.24 m)Non-vented (recirculating) InstallationsMin. ceiling height Max. ceiling heightElectric cookingsurface7' 10" (2.39 m) 10' 4" (3.24 m)Gas cookingsurface8' 4" (2.54 m) 10' 4" (3.24 m)10" (25.4 cm) min.13" (33.0 cm) max.9¹⁄₂" (24.1 cm)2" (5.1 cm) min.9" (22.9 cm) min.*CenterlineSidecabinet SidecabinetVent and powersupply cableentry location20³⁄₈" (51.8 cm)*36" (91.4 cm)“X”bottom ofcanopyto cookingsurface10" (25.4 cm) min.13" (33.0 cm) max.Cooking surface
