15MaintenanceBefore doing maintenanceon the machine, disconnect it from theelectrical supply by pulling out the plug orswitching off the main switch! Failure tocomply may cause serious injury.Keep the band saw and the motor clean.If the power cord is worn, cut, or damaged inany way, have it replaced immediately.LubricationAll ball bearings are permanently lubricated andsealed. They require no further attention.The gear box lubricant should be changed afterthe first 50 hours of operation. Change lubricantfrom then on every 250 hours of operation.To check level of gear box lubricant, place sawarm in down position and allow a few minutes topass so that oil drains down. Check level in sightglass on side of gear casing. Correct level is thedot in the middle of sight glass.To change gear box lubricant:1. Disconnect machine from the power source.2. Open drain plug and allow lubricant to draincompletely. Drain plug may be found onlower front of gear case under right wheelcover. Remove drain plug with a hexwrench.3. Replace drain plug.4. Remove filler cap (A, Figure 12) and fill gearbox with Mobil DTE® Oil Heavy Mediumuntil level reaches dot in middle of sightglass.5. Replace filler cap.6.
