135.9 Table bracket (JWBS-20 only)Install bracket (J, Figure 5-8) to back edge of table.Level with top surface of table and tighten screws.Figure 5-85.10 Miter gaugeRefer to Figure 5-9.1. Slide miter gauge into table slot.2. Use a square to verify that miter gauge face issquare to blade.3. If miter gauge is not square to blade, loosenlock knob (H 1 , Figure 5-9) and adjust to propersetting. Tighten lock knob.4. If pointer is not at 90 degrees, loosen screw (H2 )and shift pointer to 90 degrees.5. Tighten screw.Figure 5-96.0 Electrical connectionsElectrical connections must bemade by a qualified electrician in compliancewith all relevant codes. This machine must beproperly grounded to help prevent electricalshock and possible fatal injury.6.1 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONSThis machine must be grounded. In the event of amalfunction or breakdown, grounding provides apath of least resistance for electric current to reducethe risk of electric shock. This tool is equipped withan electric cord having an equipment-groundingconductor and a grounding plug. The plug must beplugged into a matching outlet that is properlyinstalled and grounded in accordance with all localcodes and ordinances.Do not modify the plug provided - if it will not fit theoutlet, have the proper outlet installed by a qualifiedelectrician.Improper connection of the equipment-groundingconductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Theconductor with insulation having an outer surfacethat is green with or without yellow stripes is theequipment-grounding conductor. If repair orreplacement of the electric cord or plug isnecessary, do not connect the equipment-groundingconductor to a live terminal. Before connecting to power source, be sure theswitch is in off position.Check with a qualifiedelectrician or service personnel if the groundinginstructions are not completely understood, or ifin doubt as to whether the tool is properlygrounded. Failure to comply may cause seriousor fatal injury.Use only 3-wire extension cords that have 3-pronggrounding plugs and 3-pole receptacles that acceptthe tool's plug.Repair or replace damaged or worn cordimmediately.6.2 Models JWBS-15, JWBS-18Model JWBS-15 and JWBS-18 Band Saws arewired from the factory for 115 volt operation, but canbe rewired for 230 volts.115 Volt OperationThe JWBS-15 and JWBS-18 Band Saw are for useon a nominal 115-V circuit, and have a groundedplug that looks like the plug illustrated in sketch A inFigure 6-1. A temporary adaptor that looks like theadaptor illustrated in sketches B and C may be usedto connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle as shownin sketch B if a properly grounded outlet is notavailable. The temporary adaptor should be usedonly until a properly grounded outlet can be installedby a qualified electrician. The green colored rigidear, lug, or the like extending from the adaptor mustbe connected to a permanent ground such as aproperly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever theadaptor is used, it must be held in place by a metalscrew. In Canada, the use of a temporary adaptor is notpermitted by the Canadian Electrical Code, C22.1.
