10DE 40024. Safety devices4.3 Safety thermostatIf the low-water thermostat fails and the cleaneroverheats, then the safety thermostat switches thewhole unit off. Contact your authorised KÄRCHERCustomer Service agent so that the safetythermostat can be reset.4.4 Safety capThe safety cap seals off the boiler and keeps thesteam pressure inside. If the pressure controllerbecomes defective, and the pressure inside theboiler rises above 5.5 bar, an overpressure valveopens inside the safety cap, and steam escapesinto the open. Contact your authorised KÄRCHERCustomer Service agent before using the cleaneragain.This steam cleaner has been fitted with varioussafety devices to provide multiple protectionmeasures. The most important safety componentsare described below.4.1 Pressure controllerThe pressure controller maintains the boilerpressure at as constant a level as is possible whilethe cleaner is in use. The heater is switched offwhen the operating pressure inside the boilerreaches its maximum of 3.2 bar, and switched onagain when the pressure drops as a result of steambeing drawn off.4.2 Low-water thermostatAs the water inside the boiler is consumed, thetemperature around the heater rises. The low-waterthermostat switches the heater off, and the red low-water warning lamp lights up. The heater isprevented from switching on again until the boilerhas cooled down, or it has been refilled with water.5. General information5.1 WarrantyThe applicable warranty conditions in differentcountries are issued by the respective nationaldistributor of KÄRCHER products. During thewarranty period, any malfunctions of the unitcaused by a material or manufacturing defect willbe repaired free of charge.In the event of a warranty claim, please take thecleaner, with accessories and proof of purchase, toyour original dealer or to the nearest authorisedcustomer service centre.We will not be held liable for damages occurring asa consequence of improper handling of the cleaner,or of failure to observe the Operating Instructions.5.2 Recycling informationThis appliance has been constructed in compliancewith the Directive on Recycling, No. 2243, issuedby the German Association of Engineers.
