MLS-BA-defsi-0713 713 Fundamental information (general)3.1 Designated useThe balance you have acquired serves to determine the weighing value of thematerial to be weighed. It is intended to be used as a “non-automatic“ balance, i.e.the material to be weighed is manually and carefully placed in the centre of theweighing plate. The weighing value can be read off after a stable weighing value hasbeen obtained.3.2 Inappropriate useDo not use the balance for dynamic weighing. In the event that small quantities areremoved or added to the material to be weighed, incorrect weighing results can bedisplayed due to the “stability compensation“ in the balance. (Example: Slowlydraining fluids from a container on the balance.)Do not leave a permanent load on the weighing plate. This can damage themeasuring equipment. Be sure to avoid impact shock and overloading the balance inexcess of the prescribed maximum load rating (max.), minus any possible tare weightthat is already present. This could cause damage to the balance.Never operate the balance in hazardous locations. The series design is notexplosion-proof.Structural alterations may not be made to the balance. This can lead to incorrectweighing results, faults concerning safety regulations as well as to destruction of thebalance. The balance may only be used in compliance with the described guidelines. Varyingareas of application/planned use must be approved by KERN in writing.3.3 Protective measuresThe moisture analyzer may only be connected to a properly installed socket withprotection conductor connection (PE). The protective effect must not be cancelled byan extension cable without protection conductor. For power supply from mains powerwithout protection conductor connection, an equivalent protection complying with therelevant installation regulations must be installed by an expert.3.4 Danger InformationIndividual case components (e.g. ventilation grid) may heat up considerably duringoperation. Therefore only touch the appliance at the handles intended for thispurpose.Sample materials that develop aggressive steams (e.g. acids) may result in corrosionproblems on parts of the appliance. The moisture analyzer should mainly be used fordrying substances containing water.Explosive, combustible samples may not be analyzed using the moisture analyzer.
