2only on the type of gas specified by the user and indi-cated on the serial plate located inside the door. Thegas may be natural, propane or manufactured. Thetype of gas cannot be converted to another gas fuel byturning or engaging a switch.GAS CONNECTIONS AND PIPE SIZEA single Keating Gas Fryer requires a standard gaspipe size of 3/4 inch (19mm) I.D. connection. Multiplefryers with a common manifold will require a minimumof 1 1/4 inch I.D. gas supply line. The size of the gassupply pipe is very important. If the pipe is too smallyou will have low gas pressure at the Keating GasFryer manifold. Low gas pressure will cause slowrecovery and/or delayed ignition. If you have a questionabout gas pipe size call your local gas company.CCAAUUTTIIOONNBefore connecting new pipe to the Keating Gas Fryerthe pipe must be blown out to remove all foreign parti-cles. These particles in the controls or burners maycause improper or dangerous operating conditions.CCAAUUTTIIOONNPipe joint compounds that are used on threaded jointsof appliance piping shall be resistant to the action of liq-uefied petroleum gases (Loctite PST 56765). Whenusing pipe joint compound do not apply to the first twothreads. Use only very small amount and only on malethreads. This will prevent clogging of burner orificesand the gas valve. Never use compound on femalethreads as it might be pushed into the gas valve.Have your installer check for gas leaks using a soapand water solution before operating. DO NOT USE ANOPEN FLAME TO CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS.1) The Keating Gas Fryer and its individual shut offvalves must be disconnected from the gas supply pip-ing system during any pressure testing of that systemat test pressures in excess of 1/2 psi (3.45kPa) (13.84in WC) High pressure can damage the gas valve caus-ing a hazardous condition.2.) The appliance must be isolated from the gas supplypiping system by closing its individual manual shutoffvalve during any pressure testing of the gas supply pip-ing system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2psi (3.45 kPa).NOTE: Line pressure must be keptbelow 10” (Nat), 13” (LP) to avoiddamage to the gas valve. The required gas pressure for properoperation of each fryer is 4" water col-umn for natural gas and 10" water col-umn for propane gas at the burnermanifold. If more than one gas unit is on the same supply line, you may require a larger line. Consult your local gascompany to assure adequate volume and pressure.Refer to serial plate for proper gas requirement for yourparticular model.FLEXIBLE GAS CONNECTORS AND QUICK DIS-CONNECT DEVICESFor an appliance equipped with casters:The installation shall be made with a connector thatcomplies with the Standard for Connectors for MovableGas Appliances, ANSI Z21.69 or the Standard for Con-nectors for Moveable Gas Appliances, CAN/CGA-6.16,and a quick disconnect device that complies with theStandard for Quick-Disconnect Devices for Use WithGas Fuel, ANSI Z21.41 or the Standard for Quick Dis-connect Devices for Use with Gas Fuel, CAN1-6.9.RESTRAINING DEVICES1.) Adequate means must be provided to limit themovement of the appliance withoutdepending on the connector and thequick-disconnect device or its associ-ated piping to limit the appliancemovement.Fryer must also be restrained to pre-vent tipping when installed so that hotliquid splashing is avoided.2.) The restraint means must beattached to the rear of the Keating Gas Fryer within 2"of the center line width and approximately 1-5/8" fromthe bottom of the cabinet back to allow the restrainingbolt to be anchored to the cabinet back between thecabinet bottom and inner liner.IF DISCONNECTION OF THE RESTRAINT IS NEC-ESSARY, IT MUST BE RECONNECTED WHEN THEKEATING GAS FRYER IS RETURNED TO ITS ORIG-INALLY INSTALLED POSITION.INSTALLATIONThe installer is responsible for attaching the tippingrestraint.ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONThe Keating Gas Fryer, when installed, must be elec-trically grounded in accordance with local codes, or inthe absence of local codes, the National ElectricalCode, ANSI/NFPA No. 70. or the Canadian ElectricalCode, CSAC-22.2 as applicable. A wiring diagram islocated on the last page. In the U.S.A. and Canada, theelectrical supply must be 120 VAC, 60Hz.WWAARRNNIINNGGThis appliance is equipped with athree-prong 120 Volt NEMA 5-15(grounding) plug for your protectionagainst shock hazard and should beplugged directly into a properlygrounded and polarized three-prong
