Configuring units via a daisy-chain 35Using the DTEcontrol portCable the daisy-chained units as shown in Figure 9 when you plan to access the first unitin the chain via a modem connected to unit’s rear-panel DTE control port.Figure 9—Cabling daisy-chained units through a modemUse cable 930xx241 (EIA-561 to EIA-561)) for the daisy chaining.To set up a daisy-chain of IDSUs, perform the following procedures.Procedure 11 Set the baud rate, parity, data and stop bits correctly of the IDSU, as specified onpage 17.2 Connect the power cord and power on the unit, as specified on page 22.3 Press the Enter key. This logs you into the unit and brings up the Main menu.4 Enter the command SA:xx:yy:zzz to set the unit’s daisy-chain address. Do not useaddress 00:00:000 (this is the default address of all the units).xx = 0 - 15yy = 0 - 15zzz = 0 - 2555 Enter the DTE command to switch the alarm message port from the DCE port to theDTE port.6 Log out (enter ).7 Disconnect the ASCII terminal from the DCE port.8 Connect the modem to the DTE port.DCE DTEDCE DTEDCE DTEDTEModemModemDCE DCE
