24 C-616DV English 25Using the radioUsing RDS (Radio Data System)RDS is a system that transmits useful information (inthe form of digital data) for FM broadcasts along withthe broadcast signal. Tuners and receivers designedfor RDS reception can extract the information fromthe broadcast signal for use with various functions,such as automatic display of the station name.RDS functionsPTY (Program TYpe Identification) Search:Automatically tunes to a station that is currently broadcastingthe specified program type (genre).PS (Program Service Name) Display:Automatically displays the station name transmitted by the RDSstation.Radio Text function:Displays the radio text data transmitted by some RDS stationswhen you Press DISPLAY button. When a preset radio stationsselected, the preset number appears on the display.1 Press TUNER BAND button to select the desiredwaveband: FM or AM.2 Press 4 or ¢ button to tune in to thedesired frequency.3 Press MEMORY/REPEAT button so that "P – –"appears on the display.4 If you want to store the radio station to anotherpreset number, press FOLDER/P.CALL 5 or ∞,or digit buttons 0–9 to select the desired presetnumber.5 Press ENTER button again to store the radiostation.6 Repeat steps 2 to 5 to store other preset radiostations.⁄• During preset, if no button is pressed within 20 seconds, thesystem will exit preset mode automatically.Tuning to a preset radio stationPress FOLDER/P.CALL 5 or ∞, or digit buttons 0–9to select the desired preset number.The preset number and radio frequency appear onthe display.⁄• Press the digit buttons as shown below:To select 1 1 and ENTERTo select 2 2 and ENTERTo select 10 1, 0 and ENTERTuning in radio stations1 Press TUNER BAND button to select the desiredwaveband: FM or AM.2 Press and hold 4 or ¢ button to tune in tothe desired frequency.⁄• To tune to a weak station, briefly press 4 or ¢ buttonrepeatedly until the display shows the desired frequency orwhen the best reception has been obtained.STEREO/MONOPress RESOLUTION/ STEREO/MONO button to selectmono or stereo mode.When stereo mode is selected, the icon "STEREO"appears on the display (if current station is FMstereo).⁄• You are able to select stereo or mono mode in FM band only.Auto presetRadio stations can be preset automatically in presetchannels.1 Press TUNER BAND button to select the desiredwaveband: FM or AM.2 Press MEMORY/REPEAT button for more than 2seconds.The receivable radio stations are presetautomatically.When the Auto preset operation has completed,the unit enters the condition in which presetstation P01 is tuned.
