44 5Return to the Top pageBefore UseReturn to the Top pageHow To Read This Manual2 WARNINGTo prevent injury or fire, takethe following precautions:• To prevent a short circuit, never put orleave any metallic objects (such as coins ormetal tools) inside the unit.• Do not watch or fix your eyes on the unit’sdisplay when you are driving for anyextended period.• If you experience problems duringinstallation, consult your Kenwood dealer.Precautions on using this unit• When you purchase optional accessories,check with your Kenwood dealer to makesure that they work with your model and inyour area.• You can select language to display menus,audio file tags, etc. See Language setup(P.72).• The Radio Data System or Radio BroadcastData System feature won’t work wherethe service is not supported by anybroadcasting station.Protecting the monitorTo protect the monitor from damage, do notoperate the monitor using a ball point pen orsimilar tool with the sharp tip.Cleaning the unitIf the faceplate of this unit is stained, wipe itwith a dry soft cloth such as a silicon cloth.If the faceplate is stained badly, wipe thestain off with a cloth moistened with neutralcleaner, then wipe it again with a clean softdry cloth.¤• Applying spray cleaner directly to the unitmay affect its mechanical parts. Wiping thefaceplate with a hard cloth or using a volatileliquid such as thinner or alcohol may scratchthe surface or erase screened print.Lens foggingWhen you turn on the car heater in coldweather, dew or condensation may formon the lens in the disc player of the unit.Called lens fogging, this condensation onthe lens may not allow discs to play. In sucha situation, remove the disc and wait for thecondensation to evaporate. If the unit stilldoes not operate normally after a while,consult your Kenwood dealer.Precautions on handling discs• Do not touch the recording surface of thedisc.• Do not stick tape etc. on the disc, or use adisc with tape stuck on it.• Do not use disc type accessories.• Clean from the center of the disc and moveoutward.• When removing discs from this unit, pullthem out horizontally.• If the disc center hole or outside rim hasburrs, use the disc only after removing theburrs with a ballpoint pen etc.• Discs that are not round cannot be used.• 8-cm (3 inch) discs cannot be used.• Discs with coloring on the recordingsurface or discs that are dirty cannot beused.• This unit can only play the CDs with.This unit may not correctly play discs whichdo not have the mark.• You cannot play a disc that has not beenfinalized.
