22Quick Start GuideInstallation ProcedureBefore InstallationBefore installation of this unit, pleasenote the following precautions.WARNINGS• If you connect the ignition wire (red)and the battery wire (yellow) to the carchassis (ground), you may cause a shortcircuit, that in turn may start a fire. Alwaysconnect those wires to the power sourcerunning through the fuse box.• Do not cut out the fuse from the ignitionwire (red) and the battery wire (yellow).The power supply must be connected tothe wires via the fuse.CAUTION• Install this unit in the console of yourvehicle.Do not touch the metal part of this unitduring and shortly after the use of theunit. Metal part such as the heat sink andenclosure become hot.NOTES• Mounting and wiring this product requiresskills and experience. For best safety, leave themounting and wiring work to professionals.• Make sure to ground the unit to a negative12V DC power supply.• Do not install the unit in a spot exposedto direct sunlight or excessive heat orhumidity. Also avoid places with too muchdust or the possibility of water splashing.• Do not use your own screws. Use onlythe screws provided. If you use the wrongscrews, you could damage the unit.• If the power is not turned ON (“PROTECT”is displayed), the speaker wire may have ashort-circuit or touched the chassis of thevehicle and the protection function mayhave been activated. Therefore, the speakerwire should be checked.• If your car’s ignition does not have an ACCposition, connect the ignition wires to apower source that can be turned on andoff with the ignition key. If you connectthe ignition wire to a power source witha constant voltage supply, such as withbattery wires, the battery may be drained.• If the console has a lid, make sure to installthe unit so that the faceplate will not hitthe lid when closing and opening.• If the fuse blows, first make sure the wiresaren’t touching to cause a short circuit,then replace the old fuse with one with thesame rating.• Insulate unconnected wires with vinyl tapeor other similar material. To prevent a shortcircuit, do not remove the caps on the endsof the unconnected wires or the terminals.• Connect the speaker wires correctly to theterminals to which they correspond. Theunit may be damaged or fail to work if youshare the wires or ground them to anymetal part in the car.• When only two speakers are beingconnected to the system, connect theconnectors either to both the front outputterminals or to both the rear outputterminals (do not mix front and rear). Forexample, if you connect the connector ofthe left speaker to a front output terminal,do not connect the connector to a rearoutput terminal.• After the unit is installed, check whetherthe brake lamps, blinkers, wipers, etc. onthe car are working properly.• Mount the unit so that the mounting angleis 30° or less.• This unit has the cooling fan (P.27) todecrease the internal temperature. Donot mount the unit in a place wherethe cooling fan of the unit are blocked.Blocking these openings will inhibit thecooling of the internal temperature andresult in malfunction.• Do not press hard on the panel surface wheninstalling the unit to the vehicle. Otherwisescars, damage, or failure may result.• Reception may drop if there are metalobjects near the Bluetooth antenna.Bluetooth antenna unit
