(Make connections to the LEFT channel (+)and the RIGHT channel (–) SPEAKER OUTPUTterminals.)6 RCA cable ground lead terminalWhen using an RCA cable with a ground leadattached, connect the ground lead to this terminal.Do not use this terminal for power sourcegrounding. This unit will be damaged if the powersource grounding wire is connected to thisterminal.7 FILTER switchThese switches allow filtering of the speakeroutput signals.• HPF (High Pass Filter) position (KAC-6201 only)Only frequencies of 150 Hz or higher are output.(Frequencies below 150 Hz are cut.)• LPF (Low Pass Filter) positionOnly frequencies of 80 Hz or lower are output.(Frequencies above 80 Hz are cut.)The Lch and Rch will be mixed before outputeven if the operation switch is set to STEREO.• OFF positionThe original sound without filtering is output.8 OPERATION switchThis switch allows selection of the amplificationmethod of input signals.• STEREO positionThe amplifier can be used as a stereo amplifier.• L+R position (KAC-6201 only)The input left and right signals are combinedbefore being amplified. Use this position whenthe unit is used for subwoofer speakers or theL+R (monaural) sound is required.• MONO (Lch) positionAmplifies the signal input from the left side only.Set to this position and make bridgedconnections to use as a high-power monauralamplifier. (The input right signal is not output.)9 INPUT SENSITIVITY controlSet this control according to the pre-output level ofthe center unit connected with this unit, or to themaximum power output of the genuine-accessorycar stereo.Use the diagram on the right as a guide. For the pre-output level or the maximum poweroutput, refer to the “Specifications” in theinstruction manual of the center unit.0 LINE IN terminal! Speaker level input terminalsPower indicatorWhen the power is turned on, the Power indicatorlights. If the Power indicator does not light when the poweris turned on, the protection function may beactivated. Check whether there is any indication oftrouble.■ The protection function is activatedin the following situations:This unit is equipped with a protection function forprotecting this unit and your speakers from variousaccidents or problems that can occur. When the protection function is triggered, thePower indicator goes off and the amplifier stopsoperating.• When a speaker wire may be short-circuited.• When a speaker output contacts ground.• When the unit malfunctions and a DC signal issent to the speaker output.• When the internal temperature is high and unitwon’t operate.• When a ground wire of the center unit (cassettereceiver, CD receiver, etc.) or this unit is notconnected to a metal part serving as an electricalground passing electricity to the battery'snegative - terminal.NOTE2CAUTIONNOTEControls25INPUTSENSITIVITY(V)MAXMIN0.30.51.0(W)2015109089 !61 234 5 7089 !6 7KAC-5201KCA-6201KAC-6201KAC-5201Power indicatorKAC-6201 KAC-5201Terminal coverBatteryGround wire*Battery wire*Protective Fuse*Power control wire*■ Power wire connectionLRLRLCCMONO(Lch)STEREOOPERATIONMONO(Lch)STEREOL+ROPERATIONKAC-5201KAC-6201LPFFILTEROFF LPFFILTERHPFOFF7 8 7 8ConnectionFor safe installation, read "Installation procedure" before starting work.NOTE2525GNDLEFTBRIDGED RIGHTLEFTBRIDGED RIGHTLEFTRIGHTSPEAKER LEVEL INPUT46 !554CENTER UNIT (Cassette receiver,CD receiver, etc.)Power control wire*RCA cable*Genuine-accessory car stereo (Noline output center unit etc.)ACCBatteryCar fuse boxLead terminal*SubwooferLead terminal*Right speakerLeft speakerSpeaker■ 2-channel system■ 1-channel system■ Subwoofer system■ RCA cable connection ■ Speaker level input connection■ Speaker stereo connection ■ Speaker bridge connectionCENTERUNITCENTERUNITCENTERUNIT■ Tri-modePrinciple of Tri-modeMethod of frequency band division using a coiland capacitor ... in case of 6dB/oct. slopeCoil (L): Passes low frequencies and blockshigh frequencies. Connecting a speaker with animpedance lower than 4 ohms may damagethe unit.• Be sure to connect capacitors to speakers towhich high frequencies will be passed.Failure to do so will result in a drop of thecombined impedance with the subwoofer.• Ensure that the withstand voltage andcurrent ratings of the capacitors (C) and coils(L) are sufficient.2CAUTIONL C0 dB-3 dBCrossover FrequencyFrequencyCENTERUNITHigh passSubwoofer(L + R)159000C= (μF)fc x R159 x RL= (mH)fc159000= = 331.25 μF120Hz x 4Ω159 x 4Ω= = 5.3 mH120HzLeft speakerRight speakerLeft speakerRight speakerLeft speakerRight speakerSubwooferLead terminal**Commercially available parts25W or greater |
