2 EnglishSafety precautions2 WARNINGTo prevent injury or fire, take the followingprecautions:• When extending the ignition, battery, or groundwires, make sure to use automotive-grade wiresor other wires with a 5 mm² (AWG 10) or more toprevent wire deterioration and damage to the wirecoating.• To prevent a short circuit, never put or leave anymetallic objects (such as coins or metal tools) insidethe unit.• If the unit starts to emit smoke or strange smells,turn off the power immediately and consult yourKenwood dealer.• Do not touch the unit during use because thesurface of the unit becomes hot and may causeburns if touched.2 CAUTIONTo prevent damage to the machine, take thefollowing precautions:• Be sure the unit is connected to a 12V DC powersupply with a negative ground connection.• Do not open the top or bottom covers of the unit.• Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to directsunlight or excessive heat or humidity. Also avoidplaces with too much dust or the possibility of watersplashing.• When replacing a fuse, only use a new one with theprescribed rating. Using a fuse with the wrong ratingmay cause your unit to malfunction.• To prevent a short circuit when replacing a fuse, firstdisconnect the wiring harness.NOTE• If you experience problems during installation,consult your Kenwood dealer.• If the unit does not seem to be working right,consult your Kenwood dealer.This product is not installed by the manufacturer of avehicle on the production line, nor by the professionalimporter of a vehicle into an EU Member State.Information on Disposal of Old Electricaland Electronic Equipment (applicable forEU countries that have adopted separatewaste collection systems)Products with the symbol (crossed-outwheeled bin) cannot be disposed ashousehold waste.Old electrical and electronic equipmentshould be recycled at a facility capableof handling these items and their wastebyproducts. Contact your local authorityfor details in locating a recycle facilitynearest to you. Proper recycling and wastedisposal will help conserve resources whilstpreventing detrimental effects on ourhealth and the environment.Cleaning the unitIf the front panel gets dirty, turn off the power andwipe the panel with a dry silicon cloth or soft cloth.2 CAUTIONDo not wipe the panel with a hard cloth or a clothdampened by volatile solvents such as paint thinnerand alcohol. They can scratch the surface of the paneland/or cause the indicator letters to peel off.To prevent battery riseWhen the unit is used in the ACC ON position withoutturning the engine ON, it depletes the battery. Use itafter starting the engine.Protection functionThere is a Protection function installed in the unit toprotect the unit and speakers from various problems.When Protection operates, the indicator informs youof the condition.
