One amplifier is referred to as amplifier A andthe other is amplifier B. This unit is compatible with alarge variety of systems by combining the switches andfunctions described in the following.1 FuseKAC-PS847F/PS847: 40 AKAC-PS647: 30 ANOTEIf you can’t find the specified capacity fuse at your store etc.,consult your Kenwood dealer.2 Battery terminal (POWER IN BATT.)3 Power control terminal (P.CON)Controls the unit ON/OFF.NOTEControls the unit power. Be sure to connect it with all thesystems.4 Ground terminal (GND)5 SPEAKER OUTPUT terminals (A.ch/B.ch)• Stereo connections:When you wish to use the unit as a stereo amplifier, stereoconnections are used. The speakers to be connected shouldhave an impedance of 2Ω or greater. When multiple speakersare to be connected, ensure that the combined impedanceis 2Ω or greater for each channel.• Bridged connections:When you wish to use the unit as a high-output amplifier, bridged connections are used. (Make connections to theLEFT channel ª and the RIGHT channel · SPEAKEROUTPUT terminals.) The speakers to be connected shouldhave an impedance of 4Ω or greater. When multiple speakersare to be connected, ensure that the combined impedanceis 4Ω or greater.6 INPUT SENSITIVITY control (A.ch/B.ch)Set this control according to the pre-output level of thecenter unit connected with this unit.NOTEFor the pre-output level, refer to the in theinstruction manual of the center unit.7 FILTER switch (A.ch)This switch allow filtering of the speaker output signals.• HPF (High-Pass Filter) position:Only frequencies of 80 Hz or higher are output.(Frequencies below 80 Hz are cut.)• OFF position:The entire bandwidth is output without filtering.8 FILTER switch (B.ch)This switch allow filtering of the speaker output signals.• LPF (Low-Pass Filter) position:The filter outputs the band of lower frequencies than thefrequency set with the “LPF FREQUENCY” control.• OFF position:The entire bandwidth is output without filtering.9 LPF FREQUENCY control (B.ch)This control adjusts the frequency band output from thisunit.0 SPEAKER LEVEL INPUT terminalThe output from the genuine-accessory car stereo up to50W can be input. The power is turned on and off as the unitdetects input signal (SIGNAL SENSING TURN-ON). Therefore itis not necessary to connect the power control wire.- LINE IN terminal (A.ch/B.ch)= Cooling fan (KAC-PS847F only)~ Power indicatorWhen the power is turned on, the Power indicator lights.System examples /■ 4-channel system■A.ch B.chInstallation / Connection /7 Installation procedureSince there are large variety of settings andconnections possible according to applications, read the instruction manual well to select theproper setting and connection.1. Remove the ignition key and disconnect thenegative · terminal of the battery to preventshort circuits.2. Set the unit according to the intended usage.3. Connect the input and output wires of theunits.4. Connect the speaker wires.5. Connect the power wire, power control wireand grounding wire following this order.6. Install the installation fittings in the unit.7. Attach the unit.8. Connect the negative · terminal of thebattery.CAUTION• Do not install in the below locations;(Unstable location, In a location that interfereswith driving, In a location that gets wet, In adusty location, In a place that gets hot, In a placethat gets direct sunlight, In a location that getshit by hot air)• Do not install the unit under the carpet.Otherwise heat build-up occurs and the unitmay be damaged.• Install this unit in a location which allows heat toeasily dissipate.Once installed, do not place any object on topof the unit.• The surface temperature of the amplifier willbecome hot during use. Install the amplifier in aplace where people, resins, and other substancesthat are sensitive to heat will not come intocontact with it.• When making a hole under a seat, inside thetrunk, or somewhere else in the vehicle, checkthat there is nothing hazardous on the oppositeside such as a gasoline tank, brake pipe, or wiringharness, and be careful not to cause scratches orother damage.• Do not install near the dashboard, rear tray, or airbag safety parts.• The installation to the vehicle should securelyfasten the unit to a place in which it will notobstruct driving. If the unit comes off due to ashock and hits a person or safety part, it maycause injury or an accident.• After installing the unit, check to make sure thatelectrical equipment such as the brake lamps, turn signal lamps and windshield wipers operatenormally.KAC-PS847F only• This unit has cooling fan to decrease the internaltemperature. Do not mount the unit in a placewhere the cooling fan and ducts of the unit areblocked. Blocking these openings will inhibit thecooling of the internal temperature and result inmalfunction.7··WARNING Remove the ignition key and disconnect the negative · terminal of thebattery to prevent short circuits.·WARNINGParticular attention must be given to making goodelectrical contact at the amplifier-output and speakerterminals.Poor or loose connections can cause sparking orburning at the terminals because of the very highpower that the amplifier can deliver.CAUTION• If sound is not output normally, immediately turn poweroff and check connections.• Be sure to turn the power off before changing the settingof any switch.• If the fuse blows, check wires for shorts, then replace thefuse with one of the same rating.• Check that no unconnected wires or connectors aretouching the car body. Do not remove caps fromunconnected wires or connectors to prevent shortcircuits.• Connect the speaker wires to appropriate speakerconnectors separately. Sharing the negative wire of thespeaker or grounding speaker wires to the metal body ofthe car can cause this unit to fail.• After installation, check that the brake lamps, turn signallamps and windshield wipers work properly.WARNINGTo prevent fire caused by a short in the wiring, connect a fusible link or breaker nearby thebattery’s positive terminal.7 Power wire and speaker wire connection7Center unit (CD receiver, etc.)Power control wireBattery wireProtective fuseBattery Ground wireLead terminal7 Accessories /1 ø 4 x 20 mm Self-tapping screws / 42 Speaker level input cable / 1Installation board, etc. (thickness : 15 mm or more)1 Parts included315 mm232 mmø 4.6200 mm187 mmStereo /2-channel + Subwoofer system /A.ch LeftA.ch RightB.ch LeftLeftRightSubwooferB.ch RightLRLRLRLRAB■ 2-channel + Subwoofer system■Center unitLRLRLRLRABFront left speakerFront right speakerRear left speakerRear right speakerCenter unit2 Parts includedGenuine-accessory car stereo(No line output center unit etc.)NOTEDo not connect cables and leads to both RCA cableinput jacks and the speaker level input terminalssimultaneously, for this may cause malfunction ordamage.Cable color of the connector /Left speaker (high pass)Right speaker (high pass)Subwoofer (Bridged)Å A channel Left / 9 White /Ò · White-Black /Å A channel Right / 9 Gray / · Gray-Black /ı B channel Left / 9 Green /Ò · Green-Black /ı B channel Right / 9 Purple / · Purple-Black /
