CONTROLS AND THEIR FUNCTIONSAMPLI FI ER MODE indica-tor lampEither the 4CH or 2CH lamplights up to indicate the set-ting of the AMP CONTROLswitch on the rear panelwhich determines the modeof the amplifiers. The switchis preset at the factory for 4-channel amp operation sothe 4CH pilot lamp shouldlight up unless the switch hasbeen reset for 2-chan nel ampoperation. This switch silences interesta-tion noise on the FM band, but it may also eliminate thesignal of a weak and distantstation along with the inter-station noise. Therefore, setthis switch to off (by press-ing button release) when re-ceiving a weak or distantstation. The LOU DN ESS controlboosts bass and treble tonesat low listening levels. Ourears have less sensitivity tolow and high frequencies atlow I is.tening l-evels, and theLOUDNESS control com-pensates for this deficiency. This control should beswitched off when listeningat normal and high levels. The TAPE MON(lTOR)switch is used when operat-ing a tape recorder for moni-toring a recording or fo'r tapereproduction. With the but-ton pushed in, sound re-corded on the tape is heard. When the button is released, the source signal is heard. The tape monitor switchshould be kept switched off(by button release) unlessmonitoring or tape playbackis performed. The TUNING knob selectsthe desired AM or FM stationsignal. Adjust it for maxi-mum deflection of the SI G-NAL meter as you listen tothe sound output from thespeakers.VOLUME controlThis is a dual concentric friction type knob which permitsall four channel levels (front left and right, rear left andright) to be adjusted simultaneously. However, by holdingone knob firmly, the other may be rotated separately. Thelarge outer knob adjusts the volume levels of both rear-leftand rear-right speakers simultaneously. The smaller centerknob adjusts the levels of both front-left and front-rightspeakers simultaneously. Volume is minimum at full counter-clockwise position. Rotation clockwise increases volumelevel.Switch positions and func-tions are as follows:AM - For AM reception.FM - For FM monaural andstereo reception. Automaticswitching is performed forFM monaural and stereosources. When an FM stereobroadcast is tuned in, the"FM STER EO" indicatorlights up.PHONO - In this positionthe record p'layer is availableif one is connected to thePHONO input jacks on therear panel.CD-4 - Use this position forreproducing CD-4 discretedisc records, in conjunctionwith a CD-4 demodulator"KCD-2" (optional equip-ment - see under "OperatingInstructions"). The "CD-4"indicator will light up."RADAR" lights up toindicate actual CD-4 discretedisc reproduction in progress.AUX - Selects source con-nected to the AUX inputjacks. This is a dual concentricfriction type control. Byholding one knob firmly, theother may be rotated sepa-rately, thus providing in-dependent balance level ad-justment of the front or rearsides. When BALANCE is set at"0" position, both left andright speakers operate at thesame power. When it is turn-ed to the left, the left chan-nel is accentuated. Whenturned to the right, the rightchannel is accentuated.brought to you by www.stephsrecordsale.comAll manuals and user guides at all-guides.com
