Getting Started Guide 95Test Platform Operating SystemSystem MaintenanceDisk Drive Recovery ProcessThe Instrument Image Recovery System can be used to repair errors on theinstrument’s C: drive or to restore the original factory configuration of thesystem software. Repairing errors on the hard disk drive may result in loss ofdata or files. If you need more information about the Windows "chkdsk" errorrepair process, see the chkdsk documentation in the Microsoft Windows 10Help and Support Center.Restoring the original factory system software does not restore any of thefollowing items:— Windows system configurations that were made after the instrument wasshipped from the factory. For example, Windows and Service Pack updates, user accounts, and Windows configuration settings. After an InstrumentImage Recovery System, these configurations need to be redone.— Additional software that was installed after the instrument was shippedfrom the factory. After an Instrument Image Recovery System, that softwareneeds to be re-installed.— Any upgrades that were made to the Keysight Test Application software. It is recommended that routine back-ups of the instrument information beperformed to keep current archives of the instrument information. This allows afull recovery of the instrument information after the instrument recoverysystem operations are performed. See “Back-up” on page 93 for more details. This recovery process should only be used for the repair/restoration purposesdescribed above. It is not suitable for performing an instrument software update;see “Updating the Keysight E7515B UXM 5G software” onpage 99 for the appropriate procedure. It is recommended that you use a regular back-up strategy. Your IT departmentmay already have a back-up strategy in place which is suitable for the InternalApplications Server and its data. See “User Accounts” on page 89. Usingthe Instrument Image Recovery System in conjunction with a regular back-upstrategy should allow you to fully recover the Internal Applications Serversoftware and data.
