1 Calibration ProceduresCalibration Overview18 U1450 Series/U1461A Service GuideCalibration OverviewThis manual contains procedures to verify the U1450 Series insulationtesters/U1461A insulation multimeter performance and to performadjustments (calibration). The performance test procedures allow you toverify that the instrument is operating within its published specifications. The adjustment procedures ensure that the instrument remains within itsspecifications until the next calibration.Closed-case calibrationThe instrument features closed- case electronic calibration. In other words,no internal mechanical adjustments are required. The instrumentcalculates correction factors based upon the input reference value you set.The new correction factors are stored in the nonvolatile memory until thenext calibration adjustment is performed. The nonvolatile EEPROMcalibration memory is retained even when the power is switched off.Keysight calibration servicesWhen your instrument is due for calibration, contact your local KeysightService Center to enquire about recalibration services.Calibration intervalA 1- year interval is adequate for most applications. Accuracyspecifications are warranted only if adjustment is made at regularcalibration intervals. Accuracy specifications are not warranted beyond the1- year calibration interval. Keysight does not recommend extendingcalibration intervals beyond 2 years for any application.NOTE Ensure that you have read the “Test Considerations” on page 22 before calibrating theinstrument.
