111. The area surrounding the heater shall be kept clearand free from combustible materials, gasoline, andother flammable vapors and liquids.2. The regulator must be periodically inspected to makesure its vent is not blocked. Debris, insects, insectnests, snow, or ice on a regulator can block ventsand cause excess pressure at the heater.3. A regulator can wear out and function improperly.Have your gas supplier check delivery pressures tothe appliance to make sure that the regulator isreliable.4. Check any heater wiring for corrosion, frayed or cutinsulation, tight connections, etc. Repair or replaceas necessary.5. Review the heater’s instruction label at the time ofmaintenance for legibility. Make sure it is not cut,torn, or otherwise damaged. Ensure the gas hose does not have any nicks, orcuts, and its connections are not corroded, or havestripped threads. Replace the gas hose assembly ifnecessary.
