General InformationInstallationInstructions1. Read all safety precautions and follow L. B. Whiterecommendations when installing this heater. Ifduring the installation or relocating of heater, yoususpect that a part is damaged or defective, call aqualified service agency for repair or replacement.2. Insure that all accessories that ship within the heaterhave been removed from inside of heater andinstalled. This pertains to air diverters, hose,regulators, etc.3. A qualified service agency must check for properoperating gas pressure upon installation of the heater.4. L.B. White heaters can be configured for use witheither L.P. gas vapor withdrawal or natural gas.Consult the dataplate, located on interior of the burnerend or motor end access door, for the gasconfiguration of the specific heater. Do not use theheater in an L.P. gas liquid withdrawal system orapplication. If you are in doubt, contact the L.B. WhiteCo., Inc.5. Eventually, like all electrical/mechanical devices, thethermostat can fail. Thermostat failure may result ineither an underheating or overheating condition whichmay damage critical products and/or cause animalinjury or death. Critical products and/or animalsshould be protected by a separate back-up controlsystem that limits high and low temperatures and alsoactivates appropriate alarms.6. Take time to explain to your customer how to operateand maintain the heater by using this Service Guide.Make sure your customer knows how to shut off thegas supply to the building and also to the individualheater. In the event of an emergency, have yourcustomer contact you or the fuel gas supplier if youhave any questions.7. Any defects found in performing any of the service ormaintenance procedures must be eliminated anddefective parts replaced immediately. The heatermust be retested by properly qualified servicepersonnel before placing the heater back into use.8. Do not exceed input rating stamped on the dataplateof the heater. Do not exceed the burner manifoldpressure stated on the dataplate. Do not use anorifice size different than specified for the specificinput rating of this heater, fuel type, configuration andaltitude.August 1999 2.1-11WARNINGFire oor eexplosion hhazard.Can ccause pproperty ddamage, ssevere iinjury oor ddeath.■ Disconnect power supply before wiring to preventelectrical shock or equipment damage.■ To avoid dangerous accumulation of fuel gas, turn offgas supply at the appliance service valve beforestarting installation, and perform gas leak test aftercompletion of installation.■ Do not force the gas control knob. Use only your handto turn the gas control knob. Never use any tools. Ifthe knob will not operate by hand, the control shouldbe replaced by a qualified service technician. Force orattempted repair may result in fire or explosion.
