Mac UsersThe Problem Questions to Ask Possible SolutionsThe drive is notrecognized by thecomputer.Does your computer’s configurationmeet the minimum system requirementsfor use with this drive?Check section 2.1. Minimum system requirements for moreinformation.Is the drive’s A/C adaptor connected? Make sure that the power supply is properly connected (seesection 2.3.3. Optional A/C Adaptor Kit).Did you follow the correct installationsteps for the specific interface andoperating system.Review the installation steps under 3. Installing your LaCiedrive.Is there an icon for the drive appearon the desktop?There should be an icon for the LaCie drive on the desktop.Open Apple System Profiler and click on the Devices andVolumes tab. If your device is not listed, follow the rest ofthe Troubleshooting tips to isolate the problem.Are both ends of the FireWire/USBcable firmly attached?• Disconnect the FireWire/USB cable, wait 10 secondsand then reconnect.• Ensure that the FireWire/USB connectors are properlyaligned. FireWire/USB cables can only be inserted oneway. Make sure that they are correctly oriented.• Check that the FireWire/USB connectors are straight andfully seated in the FireWire/USB ports.• Only use certified FireWire/USB cables, such as thecables provided with your LaCie drive.If you have followed all of these steps and the drive is stillnot recognized, shut down your computer, wait 3 to 5minutes, restart your computer and try again.Is the drive connected to the computerthrough another drive?Try connecting the drive directly to the computer.
