LaCie Portable DVD±RW with LightScribeUser Manual page Design by Sam HechtTroubleshootingProblem Question SolutionThe drive is notrecognized by thecomputerDoes your computer’s configura-tion meet the minimum systemrequirements for use with thisdrive?See section 1.1, Minimum System Requirements.Is the drive’s power supply con-nected and the drive turned on?Make sure that the power supply is properly connected (see section 2.4,Connecting the Power Supply), and that the outlet the power supply isconnected to is also turned on.Did you follow the correct installa-tion steps for the specific interface?Review the installation steps in sections 2.2, Connecting the USB 2.0Cable and 2.3, Connecting the FireWire 400 Cable.Does the drive’s icon appear on thedesktop?When there is a CD or DVD disc in the drive, there should be an iconfor the LaCie drive on the desktop. Select About This Mac from theApple menu and click the More Info... button. Check the Hardwarecategory for the LaCie drive. If your device is not listed, follow the restof the Troubleshooting tips to isolate the problem.Are both ends of the FireWire orUSB cable securely attached?Disconnect the FireWire or USB cable, wait 10 seconds and thenreconnect.Ensure that the FireWire/USB connectors are properly aligned.FireWire/USB cables can only be inserted one way.
