78If the slide-out room will not move when using theremote, check the following:The battery is connected and fully charged.The power fuse located on the electric jackcontrol unit in the cabover step is not blown.There are no other obstructions in the room’spath.The camper is level and not in a rack ortwisted position.In the event that the slide-out room fails to operateafter review of the troubleshooting steps mentionedabove, proceed with the following:1. Locate the control board.2. Un-plug both motors connectors at controlboard.3. The slide-out room may now be pushed inor out as desired. Larger slide-out room(s)may need several individuals to push. Whenpushing the slide-out room, push both sidesequally to ensure the slide-out room remainseven. Once slide-out room is fully retractedor in, plug both motors connectors back in atthe control board, this applies a brake to themotor and keeps the slide-out room locked inposition.CAUTIONDO NOT MOVE THE CAMPER UNLESSTHE MOTORS ARE PLUGGED IN AT THECONTROL BOARD.ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MAINTENANCEDisconnect all power sources before performing anyservice work on the system. This includes the 120-volt AC power to the converter, the battery and theconnection between the camper and the truck.The slide-out room system requires a minimumbattery voltage of 12-volts. Be sure the battery is fullycharged for best performance.Maintain the battery as outlined in the Battery Sec-tion under Electrical Systems. Check the terminalsand other connections at the battery, fuse panel andthe control board. Be sure the connections are tight,clean, undamaged and corrosion-free.MECHANICAL MAINTENANCEThe slide-out room mechanism is designed to bevirtually maintenance free. During long-term storage,apply a seal dressing such as 303© Protectant to theslide-out room seals. 303© Protectant is availableat most RV or auto parts supply stores. This dress-ing will also lubricate the seals and make it easier toextend and retract the slide room.SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTINGThe camper body, the slide-out room and the slide-out room mechanism make up a slide-out room sys-tem. Each needs to function properly with the others.Every unit has its own characteristics. Symptoms ofmalfunction may appear to be the same, but trouble-shooting and fixing a problem must include a thor-ough check of all the interrelated components. Whensomething restricts room travel, the drive mechanismis designed to stop. If the room is restricted, thesystem may put undue pressure on the camper body,slide-out room or mechanism. The room may not sealproperly and the obstruction may cause fatigue andpremature system failure.Before troubleshooting the system or contacting anauthorized Lance Service Center, make sure the bat-tery is fully charged and there are no obstructions toroom movement.ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTINGThere are no field serviceable parts in the motor orcontrol system, therefore electrical troubleshoot-ing and service by the owner is limited to thoroughchecking of wiring and connections, checking thefuse at the fuse box and proper battery maintenance.Contact your Lance Dealer for any other servicerequirements.
