Section 1: Assembly &Set-upHR3584 & HRL3578 Retractable Box Scraper 305-054M 10/31/188Table of Contents3-Point Hook-upRefer to Figure 1-3:DANGER!To avoid serious injury or death:A crushing hazard exists while hooking-up and unhookingimplement. Keep people and animals away while backing-upto implement or pulling away from implement. Do not operatehydraulic controls while a person or animal is directly behindthe power machine or near the implement.A 3-point Category I or II hitch is required. The lower liftarms of the 3-point hitch must be stabilized to preventside-to-side movement. Most tractors have sway blocksor adjustable chains for this purpose.1. Slowly back tractor up to the Box Scraper while usingthe tractor’s 3-point hydraulic control lever to alignlower hitch holes with Cat. I or Cat. II clevis lug holeson the Box Scraper.2. Engage tractor park brake, shut tractor engine offand remove key before dismounting from tractor.3. Attach lower lift arms to Cat. I or Cat. II clevises withhitch pins (#1) and secure with linchpins (#2).4. Connect top center link to the upper clevis lugs usingcustomer supplied clevis pin (#3) and hitch pinkeeper (#4).5. Return to the tractor and slowly operate 3-pointhydraulic control lever to fully raise and lowerRetractable Box Scraper while checking forclearances between the scraper and tractor tires, drawbar, etc. Move or remove drawbar if it interfereswith the scraper.6. Ensure that the lower arms are stabilized to preventexcessive side movement.7. See “Level and Pitch Adjustment” on page 12.NOTE: Land Pride’s Quick Hitch can be attached tothe tractor to provide quick and easy 3-point hook-up and detachment. See your nearest Land Pridedealer to purchase a Quick-Hitch.Hydraulic Hook-upDANGER!To avoid serious injury or death:Relieve all hydraulic pressure before disconnecting any linesor pipes between implement and tractor hydraulic system.WARNING!To avoid serious injury or death:Hydraulic fluid under high pressure can penetrate the skinand/or eyes causing a serious injury. Wear protective glovesand safety glasses or goggles when working with hydraulicsystems. Use a piece of cardboard or wood rather than handswhen searching for leaks. A doctor familiar with this type ofinjury must treat the injury within a few hours or gangrenemay result. DO NOT DELAY.Refer to Figure 1-3:1. Connect hydraulic hoses (#6 & #7) to tractor remoteoutlets.2. Cycle hydraulic system by extending and retractinghydraulic cylinder several times. It may be necessaryto purge the system of trapped air if operationremains sluggish. Purge the system as follows:Refer to Figure 1-2 on page 7:a. Lower Box Scraper until it is resting on the groundand shut tractor engine off.b. Remove cotter pin (#3), flat washer (#2), andlower cotter pin (#4).c. Loosen fitting (#7) to allow fluid to escape.d. Slowly activate tractor control lever to purge anytrapped air from the system.e. Once the system has been purged, tightenfitting (#7) and attach cylinder (#6) to lowerlugs (#1) with clevis pin (#4), flat washer (#2), andcotter pin (#3).Tractor 3-Point Hook-upFigure 1-337298
