Section 3: AdjustmentsTable of ContentsRCR1542 & RCR1548 Rotary Cutters 312-556M10/11/17 153. With gloves on, carefully rotate each blade tip to theposition shown in Figure 3-2.4. Measure distance from cutting tip of blade to groundsurface. This distance is the cutting height.5. If desired cutting height cannot be obtained byadjusting the lower 3-Point arms, then readjusttailwheel height. See “Tailwheel HeightAdjustment” on this page.6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until desired cutting height isachieved.7. Set tractor’s 3-Point hydraulic control stop at thisheight.Tractor Center 3-Point AdjustmentRefer to Figure 3-3:1. Lower cutter deck to the nominal cutting height.Deck LevelingFigure 3-3379502. Typically the tractor center 3-point link is adjusted sothat the upper 3-point clevis pin is straight above thelower 3-point hitch pins. This arrangement allows foroptimum ground contour following performance.3. Lock tractor center link in this position once correctlength is achieved. Adjustment on center 3-point linkcan be made depending on customer’s preference.Tailwheel Height AdjustmentRefer to Figure 3-4:If deck slope is slightly lower at the front than at the backand cutting height is not at the desired height, then thetailwheel must be adjusted up or down as follows:1. Use tractor’s 3-Point hydraulic control to lift cutteruntil the tailwheel clears the ground.2. Remove 3/8" carriage bolt (#1) and 3/8" flangenut (#2).3. Adjust tailwheel as follows:• To lower cutting height, adjust tailwheel up.• To increase cutting height, adjust tailwheel down.4. With tailwheel adjusted to the correct height, replace3/8" x 1" long carriage bolt (#1) and 3/8" flangenut (#2). Tighten flange nut to the correct torque.5. Readjust tractor’s lower 3-Point arm height asneeded. See section titled “Deck Leveling FromFront to Rear” on page 14.NOTE: Customer may adjust tractor center 3-pointlink to his or her preference. Lengthening center3-point link allows more movement going over raisedsurfaces. Shortening the link allows more movementcrossing ditches and allows the cutter to be carriedhigher while traveling. Never lengthen center link towhere the cutter is carried too low.Tailwheel Height AdjustmentFigure 3-430244
