The weight transfersprings help to lighten the mower deck by transferring excess weight to the drive unit.The elimination of excess weight allows more agile floating of the mower deck, resultingin a higher quality cut and a lower incidence of turf damage.The weight transfer springs are located under the operator seat pan, running from themounting bolt on the right front of the frame to the two pivot arms located in front of theright steering control arm. The pivot arms extend to the outer left and right of the frame,and are connected by chains to the left and right sides of the mower deck.Check to be sure that all weight transfer springs are properly mounted and secure, bothto the mounting bolt in front and the pivot arms in back. Also verify that the chains run-ning from the outer pivot arms to the decks are properly mounted and intact.Proper operation of the weight transfer system will allow you to lift the rear of the mowerdeck by hand with little effort.3.17 Jack StandModels 325D & 425D Articulators prior to Serial Number 1541298 were equipped with ajack stand to lift the front of the mower, to be used during equipment inspections, adjust-ments, and maintenance. On these units, the jack stand is located on the right side of theframe, just in front of the control panel. When not in use, it should be mounted parallel tothe frame, and be tensioned against the base of the control panel to prevent excessivemovement, wear, and noise.Always be sure the parking brake is set prior to operation of the jack stand! Tooperate the jack stand, support the long end with one hand, while turning the crank han-dle on the other end counter-clockwise to alleviate the tension of the jack stand againstthe base of the control panel. Once it is loose, pull the pin from the jack stand mountbracket (located on the frame). Completely remove the jack stand from the mountbracket. Turn the jack stand vertically so that the crank handle orients to the top and thefoot orients to the bottom. Replace the jack stand onto the mount bracket in the verticalposition, and replace the pin, locking the jack stand into place. Turn the crank handleclockwise to begin extension of the jack.Always be sure the parking brake is set before operating the jackstand!Never operate the jack stand with the engine running!Keep everyone clear of all controls while operating the jack stand!Go to www.lastec.com for latest changes in this manual.
