4READ THIS PAGE!6. Determine which AMP MODE is bestfor your application:• STEREO mode (separate left and rightinputs, separate left and right outputs) isthe typical setup for amplifying stereosignals.• MONO mode (sometimes called Dual-Mono mode – one mono input, two monooutputs) is for sending a mono signal totwo different speaker sets, with separately-adjustable level controls.• BRIDGE mode (sometimes calledBridged-Mono – one mono input, one monooutput) uses both sides of the amp todouble the power to one speaker set. AnM•1200 power amplifier, set to BRIDGEmode, delivers 1200 watts (into 4 ohms). The M•1400 delivers 1260 watts. Garsh!Note: 4 ohms is the minimum impedanceyou should connect to the amplifier in BRIDGEmode. If you connect a lower impedance loadin BRIDGE mode, the SHORT LEDs maylight, putting the amplifier into PROTECTmode.Set the AMP MODE switch accordingly.7. In STEREO mode, connect line-level cablesfrom your signal source to the M•1200/M•1400’s INPUT jacks, either XLR orTRS:• The XLR and TRS inputs for eachchannel are wired in parallel.• The balanced XLR inputs are wiredpin 2 = hot (+), pin 3 = cold (–) andpin 1 = shield (ground).QUICK STARTI got ants in my pants and I got to dance!INSTALLATIONThe M•1200/M•1400amps can be mounted inany standard rack system(see ), or placed horizon-tally on a floor or table. The heavier internalcomponents are located towards the front ofthe chassis to make it easier to hold the ampby its front handles.IMPORTANT: TheM•1200/M•1400 ampsdraw their ventilation airin from the front and outthrough the side panels. They need plenty of fresh air to stay cool.DO NOT BLOCK THE VENTILATION PORTS(see ).CONNECTIONS AND SETTINGS1. Be sure the POWER switch is off beforemaking connections.2. Turn the GAIN controls fully down(counterclockwise) for now.3. Set both LOW CUT FILTER controls totheir TYPICAL marks (35Hz).4. Set both CONSTANT DIRECTIVITYswitches OFF (unless you’re using constantdirectivity horns with compression drivers).5. Set the LIMITER switch on.Note: If you’re using the M•1200/M•1400 topower a subwoofer, you probably do not needan external crossover.
