5NOTE:• When cutting grooves with a 20 mm (13/16")diameter bit, the depth of cut should not be morethan 5 mm (3/16") at a pass.When you wish to cut grooves more than 15 mm(9/16") deep with a 6 mm (1/4") diameter bit ormore than 5 mm (3/16") deep with a 20 mm(13/16") diameter bit, make several passes withprogressively deeper bit settings.Switch action1003659CAUTION:• Before plugging in the tool, always check to seethat the tool is switched off.• Switch can be locked in "ON" position for ease ofoperator comfort during extended use. Applycaution when locking tool in "ON" position andmaintain firm grasp on tool.• Make sure that the shaft lock is released beforethe switch is turned on.To start the tool, move the switch lever to the I (ON)position. To stop the tool, move the switch lever to the O(OFF) position.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on thetool.Installing or removing the bitCAUTION:• Install the bit securely. Always use only the wrenchprovided with the tool. A loose or overtightened bitcan be dangerous.• Do not tighten the collet nut without inserting a bit,or the collet cone will break.12003669Insert the bit all the way into the collet cone. Press theshaft lock to keep the shaft stationary and use thewrench to tighten the collet nut securely.To remove the bit, follow the installation procedure inreverse.OPERATIONSet the tool base on the workpiece to be cut without thebit making any contact. Then turn the tool on and waituntil the bit attains full speed. Move the tool forwardover the workpiece surface, keeping the tool base flushand advancing smoothly until the cutting is complete.When doing edge cutting, the workpiece surface shouldbe on the left side of the bit in the feed direction.1 234 42001984NOTE:• Moving the tool forward too fast may cause a poorquality of cut, or damage to the bit or motor.Moving the tool forward too slowly may burn andmar the cut. The proper feed rate will depend onthe bit size, the kind of workpiece and depth of cut.Before beginning the cut on the actual workpiece,it is advisable to make a sample cut on a piece ofscrap lumber. This will show exactly how the cutwill look as well as enable you to checkdimensions.• When using the straight guide or the trimmer guide,be sure to install it on the right side in the feeddirection.
