8CAUTION:• Be sure the blade is installed with teeth pointing upat the front of the tool.• Use only the Makita wrench to install or remove theblade.To remove the blade, press the shaft lock so that theblade cannot revolve and use the hex wrench to loosenthe hex bolt counterclockwise. Then remove the hex bolt,outer flange and blade.To install the blade, follow the removal procedure inreverse. BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE HEX BOLTCLOCKWISE SECURELY.1234008467When changing blade, make sure to also clean upperand lower blade guards of accumulated sawdust. Suchefforts do not, however, replace the need to check lowerguard operation before each use.OPERATIONCAUTION:• Be sure to move the tool forward in a straight linegently. Forcing or twisting the tool will result inoverheating the motor and dangerous kickback,possibly causing severe injury.123008468Hold the tool firmly. The tool is provided with both a frontgrip and rear handle. Use both to best grasp the tool. Ifboth hands are holding saw, they cannot be cut by theblade. Set the base on the workpiece to be cut withoutthe blade making any contact. Then turn the tool on andwait until the blade attains full speed. Now simply movethe tool forward over the workpiece surface, keeping itflat and advancing smoothly until the sawing iscompleted.To get clean cuts, keep your sawing line straight andyour speed of advance uniform. If the cut fails to properlyfollow your intended cut line, do not attempt to turn orforce the tool back to the cut line. Doing so may bind theblade and lead to dangerous kickback and possibleserious injury. Release switch, wait for blade to stop andthen withdraw tool. Realign tool on new cut line, andstart cut again. Attempt to avoid positioning whichexposes operator to chips and wood dust being ejectedfrom saw. Use eye protection to help avoid injury.Rip fence (Guide rule)1008469The handy rip fence allows you to do extra-accuratestraight cuts. Simply slide the rip fence up snugly againstthe side of the workpiece and secure it in position withthe screw on the front of the base. It also makesrepeated cuts of uniform width possible.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspectionor maintenance.Adjusting for accuracy of 90° cut (vertical cut)This adjustment has been made at the factory.
