Switch action (Fig. 5)CAUTION:Before inserting the battery cartridge into themachine, always check to see that the switch leveractuates properly and returns to the ‘‘OFF’’ positionwhen released.To start the machine, move the release button forward(A direction) and squeeze the switch lever. Machinespeed is increased by increasing pressure on theswitch lever. To stop the machine, release the switchlever.CAUTION:After switching off, always move the release buttonbackward (B direction) to prevent the machine frombeing accidentally switched on.Reversing switch (Fig. 5)CAUTION:• Always check the direction of rotation before opera-tion.• Use the reversing switch only after the machinecomes to a complete stop. Changing the direction ofrotation before the machine stops may damage themachine.This machine has a reversing switch to change thedirection of rotation. Slide the reversing switch down(Position F) for clockwise rotation or slide it up(Position R) for counterclockwise rotation.Selecting the correct socketAlways use the correct size socket for bolts and nuts.An incorrect size socket will result in inaccurate andinconsistent fastening torque and/or damage to thebolt or nut.Installing or removing the socket (Fig. 6)CAUTION:Always be sure that the machine switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before installing orremoving the socket.To install the socket, push it onto the anvil of themachine until it locks into place. To remove thesocket, simply pull it off.OperationThe proper fastening torque may differ dependingupon the kind or size of screws, the type of materialsto be fastened, etc. Before starting your job, alwaysperform a test operation to verify adequate fasteningtorque.Straight head and ratchet head (Fig. 7 & 8)Straight heads and ratchet heads are available asoptional accessories for various applications on thejob.MAINTENANCECAUTION:Always be sure that the machine is switched off andthe battery cartridge is removed before carrying outany work on the machine.To maintain product safety and reliability, repairs,maintenance or adjustment should be carried out by aMakita Authorized Service Center.5
