Do not allow persons unfamiliar with the brushcutter/string trimmer or these instructions to operate the tool.Brushcutter and String trimmers are dangerous in thehands of untrained users.2. Be sure that anyone who is to operate the brushcutter/string trimmer has first read the instruction manual.3. Never allow people unfamiliar with these instructions,people (including children) with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experienceand knowledge to use the tool. Local regulations canrestrict the age of the operator.4. Use the tool with the utmost care and attention.5. Operate the tool only if you are in good physicalcondition. Perform all work calmly and carefully. Usecommon sense and keep in mind that the operator oruser is responsible for accidents or hazards occurringto other people or their property.6. Never operate the tool when tired, feeling ill or underthe influence of alcohol or drugs.7. The tool should be switched off immediately if it showsany signs of abnormal operation.8. Disconnect the battery from the tool before makingany adjustments, changing accessories or storing.Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk ofstarting the tool accidentally.9. Don’t force the tool. it will do the job better and withless likelihood of a risk of injury at the rate for which itwas designed.10. Don’t overreach. Keep proper footing and balance atall times.Intended use of the tool1. Use right tool. The cordless brushcutter/string trimmeris only intended for cutting grass, weeds, bushes andundergrowth. It should not be used for any otherpurpose such as edging or hedge cutting as this maycause injury.Personal protective equipment1. Dress Properly. The clothing worn should befunctional and appropriate, i.e. it should be tight-fittingbut not cause hindrance. Do not wear either jewelry orclothing which could become entangled with bushesor shrubs. Wear protective hair covering to containlong hair.2. In order to avoid either head, eye, hand or foot injuriesas well as to protect your hearing the followingprotective equipment and protective clothing must beused during operation of the equipment. (Fig. 1)3. Always wear a helmet where there is a risk of fallingobjects. The protective helmet is to be checked atregular intervals for damage and is to be replaced atleast every five years. Use only approved protectivehelmets.4. The visor of the helmet (or alternatively goggles)protects the face from flying debris and stones. Duringoperation of the tool always wear goggles, or a visor toprevent eye injuries.5. Wear adequate noise protection equipment to avoidhearing impairment (ear muffs , ear plugs etc.).(Fig. 2)6. Work overalls protect against flying stones and debris.It is strongly recommended that the user wears workoveralls.7. Special gloves made of thick leather are part of theprescribed equipment and must always be wornduring operation of the tool.8. When using the tool, always wear sturdy shoes with anonslip sole. This protects against injuries andensures a good footing.Electrical and battery safety1. Avoid dangerous environment. Don’t use the tool indamp or wet locations or expose it to rain. Waterentering the tool will increase the risk of electric shock.2. Recharge only with the charger specified by themanufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type ofbattery pack may create a risk of fire when used withanother battery pack.3. Use power tools only with specifically designatedbattery packs. Use of any other battery packs maycreate a risk of injury and fire.4. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away fromother metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails,screws or other small metal objects, that can make aconnection from one terminal to another. Shorting thebattery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.5. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected fromthe battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentallyoccurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seekmedical help. Liquid ejected from the battery maycause irritation or burns.6. Do not dispose of the battery(ies) in a fire. The cellmay explode. Check with local codes for possiblespecial disposal instructions.7. Do not open or mutilate the battery(ies). Releasedelectrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to theeyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed.Starting up the tool (Fig. 3)1. Make sure that there are no children or other peoplewithin a working range of 15 meters (50 ft), also payattention to any animals in the working vicinity.Otherwise stop using the tool.2. Before use always check that the tool is safe foroperation. Check the security of the cutting tool andthe guard and the switch trigger/lever for easy andproper action. Check for clean and dry handles andtest the on/off function of the switch.3. Check damaged parts before further use of the tool. Aguard or other part that is damaged should be |
