(Makita) and the California Air Resources Boardemission control system’s warranty statements (owner’s defect war-ranty rights and obligations)In the interest of the environment, Makita engines that meet strictemission requirements are labeled. “This small off-road engine con-forms to 2000 and later California Emission Control Regulations”.CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENTYOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONSThe California Air Resources Board and Makita are pleased to explainthe emission control system warranty on your small off-road engine.In California, new small off-road engine must be designed, built andequipped to meet the state’s stringent anti-smog standards. Makitamust warrant the emission control system on your engine for theperiods of time listed below provided there has been no abuse,neglect or improper maintenance of your small off-road engine.Your emission control system includes parts such as the carburetor,air cleaner, ignition system, fuel tank, muffler and catalytic converter.Also included may be connectors and other emission related assem-blies.Where a warrantable condition exists, Makita will repair your smalloff-road engine at no cost to you including diagnosis, parts andlabor.MAKITA U.S.A. Inc. Warranty CoverageThe emission control system is warranted for two years. If any cov-ered part on your engine is defective, the part will be repaired orreplaced by Makita.Owner’s Warranty ResponsibilitiesAs the small off-road engine owner, you are responsible for perfor-mance of the required maintenance listed in your Owner's Manual.Makita recommends that you retain all receipts covering mainte-nance on your small off-road engine, but Makita cannot deny war-ranty solely for the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure theperformance of all scheduled maintenance.As the small off-road engine owner, you should however be awarethat Makita may deny you warranty coverage if your small off-roadengine or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect or improper mainte-nance or unproved modifications.You are responsible for presenting your small off-road engine to anauthorized service dealer or equipment manufacturer to whom Mak-ita would sell engines as soon as the problem exists. The warrantyrepairs should be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not toexceed 30days. Emission Control Defects WarrantyProvisionsThe following are specific provisions relative to your Emission Con-trol Defects Warranty Coverage. It is in addition to the Makita enginewarranty for non-regulated engines found in the Owner’s Manual.1. Warranted PartsCoverage under this warranty extends only to the parts listed below(the emission control systems parts) to the extent these parts werepresent on the engine purchased.• Fuel Metering Systems• Carburetor And Internal Parts• Cold Start Enrichment System (Soft Choke)• Fuel Filter (up until the first scheduled change)• Fuel Inlet Hose• Fuel Outlet Hose• Air Induction System• Air Filter (Element)• Ignition System• Spark Plug(s)• Magneto Ignition System• Fuel Tank• Catalyst Or Thermal Reacter System• Catalystic Converter2. Length of CoverageMakita warrants to the initial owner and each subsequent purchaserthat the warranted parts shall be free from defects in materials andworkmanship which cause the failure of the warranted part(s) for aperiod of two years from the date the engine is delivered to a retailpurchaser.3. No ChargeRepair or replacement of any warranted part will be performed at nocharge to the owner, including diagnostic labor which leads to thedetermination that a warranted part is defective, if the diagnosticwork is performed at an authorized service dealer of equipment man-ufacturer to whom Makita would sell engines.4. Claims and Coverage ExclusionsWarranty claims shall be filled in accordance with the provisions ofthe Makita engine warranty policy. Warranty coverage shall beexcluded for failures of warranted parts which are not original Makitaparts or because of abuse, neglect or improper maintenance as setforth in the Makita engine warranty policy. Makita is not liable tocover failures or warranted parts caused by the use of add-on, non-original, or modified parts. |
