5FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridgeFig.1• Always switch off the tool before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from thetool while sliding the button on the front of thecartridge.• To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue onthe battery cartridge with the groove in the housingand slip it into place. Always insert it all the wayuntil it locks in place with a little click. If you can seethe red indicator on the upper side of the button, it isnot locked completely. Install it fully until the redindicator cannot be seen. If not, it may accidentallyfall out of the tool, causing injury to you or someonearound you.• Do not use force when installing the batterycartridge. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, itis not being inserted correctly.Battery protection system (Battery cartridgewith a star mark)Fig.2The battery cartridge with a star mark is equipped withthe protection system, which automatically cuts off theoutput power for its long service life.The tool stops during operation when the tool and/orbattery are placed under the following situation. This iscaused by the activation of protection system and doesnot show the tool trouble.• When the tool is overloaded:At this time, release the switch trigger,remove the battery cartridge and removecauses of overload and then pull the switchtrigger again to restart.• When battery cells get hot:If any operation of the switch trigger, themotor will remain stopped. At this time, stopuse of the tool and cool or charge the batterycartridge after removing it from the tool.• When the remaining battery capacity gets low:If any operation of the switch trigger, themotor will remain stopped. At this time,remove the battery cartridge from the tool andcharge it .Switch actionFig.3CAUTION:• Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch trigger actuatesproperly and returns to the "OFF" position whenreleased.To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Tool speedis increased by increasing pressure on the switch trigger.Release the switch trigger to stop.NOTE:• Even with the switch on and motor running, the bitwill not rotate until you fit the point of the bit in thescrew head and apply forward pressure to engagethe clutch.Lighting up the front lampFig.4CAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of lightdirectly.Pull the switch trigger to light up the lamp. The lampkeeps on lighting while the switch trigger is being pulled.The lamp goes out 10 -15 seconds after releasing thetrigger.NOTE:• Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of lamp.Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it maylower the illumination.Reversing switch actionFig.5This tool has a reversing switch to change the direction ofrotation. Depress the reversing switch lever from the Aside for clockwise rotation or from the B side forcounterclockwise rotation.When the reversing switch lever is in the neutral position,the switch trigger cannot be pulled.CAUTION:• Always check the direction of rotation beforeoperation.• Use the reversing switch only after the tool comesto a complete stop. Changing the direction ofrotation before the tool stops may damage the tool.When not operating the tool, always set the reversingswitch lever to the neutral position.Depth adjustmentFig.6The depth can be adjusted by turning the locator. Turn itin "B" direction for less depth and in "A" direction for moredepth. One full turn of the locator equals 2 mm change indepth.
