5GENERAL SAFETY RULESWARNING:Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructionslisted below may result in electric shock, fire and/or seri-ous injury. The term “power tool” in all of the warningslisted below refers to your mains-operated (corded) powertool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONSWork area safety1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered anddark areas invite accidents.2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmo-spheres, such as in the presence of flammable liq-uids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks whichmay ignite the dust or fumes.3. Keep children and bystanders away while operat-ing a power tool. Distractions can cause you to losecontrol.Electrical safety4. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Nevermodify the plug in any way. Do not use anyadapter plugs with earthed (grounded) powertools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets willreduce risk of electric shock.5. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur-faces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrig-erators. There is an increased risk of electric shock ifyour body is earthed or grounded.6. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet condi-tions. Water entering a power tool will increase therisk of electric shock.7. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for car-rying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keepcord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or movingparts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the riskof electric shock.8. When operating a power tool outdoors, use anextension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of acord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of elec-tric shock.Personal safety9. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use com-mon sense when operating a power tool. Do notuse a power tool while you are tired or under theinfluence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Amoment of inattention while operating power toolsmay result in serious personal injury.10. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protec-tion. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skidsafety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used forappropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.11. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is inthe off-position before plugging in. Carrying powertools with your finger on the switch or plugging inpower tools that have the switch on invites accidents.12. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turn-ing the power tool on. A wrench or a key leftattached to a rotating part of the power tool may resultin personal injury.13. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal-ance at all times. This enables better control of thepower tool in unexpected situations.14. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jew-ellery. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves awayfrom moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or longhair can be caught in moving parts.15. If devices are provided for the connection of dustextraction and collection facilities, ensure theseare connected and properly used. Use of thesedevices can reduce dustrelated hazards.Power tool use and care16. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct powertool for your application. The correct power tool willdo the job better and safer at the rate for which it wasdesigned.17. Do not use the power tool if the switch does notturn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be con-trolled with the switch is dangerous and must berepaired.18. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/orthe battery pack from the power tool before mak-ing any adjustments, changing accessories, orstoring power tools. Such preventive safety mea-sures reduce the risk of starting the power tool acci-dentally.19. Store idle power tools out of the reach of childrenand do not allow persons unfamiliar with thepower tool or these instructions to operate thepower tool. Power tools are dangerous in the handsof untrained users.20. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment orbinding of moving parts, breakage of parts andany other condition that may affect the powertools operation. If damaged, have the power toolrepaired before use. Many accidents are caused bypoorly maintained power tools.21. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main-tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are lesslikely to bind and are easier to control.22. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.in accordance with these instructions and in themanner intended for the particular type of powertool, taking into account the working conditionsand the work to be performed. Use of the power toolfor operations different from those intended couldresult in a hazardous situation.Battery tool use and care23. Ensure the switch is in the off position beforeinserting battery pack. Inserting the battery pack intopower tools that have the switch on invites accidents.24. Recharge only with the charger specified by themanufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one typeof battery pack may create a risk of fire when usedwith another battery pack. |
