73. If operating time has become excessively shorter,stop operating immediately. It may result in a riskof overheating, possible burns and even anexplosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them outwith clear water and seek medical attention rightaway. It may result in loss of your eyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with anyconductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a containerwith other metal objects such as nails, coins,etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to water orrain.A battery short can cause a large current flow,overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge inlocations where the temperature may reach orexceed 50°C (122°F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even if it isseverely damaged or is completely worn out. Thebattery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.9. Do not use dropped or struck battery.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.Tips for maintaining maximum battery life1. Charge the battery cartridge before completelydischarged. Always stop tool operation andcharge the battery cartridge when you notice lesstool power.2. Never recharge a fully charged battery cartridge.Overcharging shortens the battery service life.3. Charge the battery cartridge with roomtemperature at 10°C - 40°C (50°F - 104°F). Let a hotbattery cartridge cool down before charging it.FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridge(Fig. 8)• Always switch off the tool before insertion or removal ofthe battery cartridge.• To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from thetool while sliding the button on the side of the cartridge.• To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Always insert it all the way until it locks inplace with a little click. If you can see the red part onthe upper side of the button, it is not locked completely.Insert it fully until the red part cannot be seen. If not, itmay accidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury toyou or someone around you.• Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. Ifthe cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Adjusting depth of cut (Fig. 9)CAUTION:• After adjusting the depth of cut, always tighten the leversecurely.Loosen the lever on the side of the rear handle and movethe base up or down. At the desired depth of cut, securethe base by tightening the lever.For cleaner, safer cuts, set cut depth so that no more thanone blade tooth projects below workpiece. Using propercut depth helps to reduce potential for dangerousKICKBACKS which can cause personal injury.Bevel cutting (Fig. 10)Loosen the lever on the bebel scale plate on the frontbase. Set for the desired angle (0° - 50°) by tiltingaccordingly, then tighten the lever securely.Sighting (Fig. 11)For straight cuts, align the A position on the front of thebase with your cutting line. For 45° bevel cuts, align the Bposition with it.Switch action (Fig. 12)CAUTION:• Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch trigger actuatesproperly and returns to the “OFF” position whenreleased.• Do not pull the switch trigger hard without pressing thelock-off lever. This can cause switch breakage.To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off lever is provided. To start the tool, pressthe lock-off lever and pull the switch trigger. Release theswitch trigger to stop.WARNING:• For your safety, this tool is equipped with lock-off leverwhich prevents the tool from unintended starting.NEVER use the tool if it runs when you simply pull theswitch trigger without pressing the lock-off lever. Returntool a MAKITA service center for proper repairsBEFORE further usage.• NEVER tape down or defeat purpose and function oflock-off lever.Lighting the lampCAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of lightdirectly.Only to turn on the light, pull the switch trigger withoutpressing the lock-off lever.To turn on the light and run thetool, press the lock-off lever and pull the switch triggerwith the lock-off lever being pressed.NOTE:• Use a cotton stick to wipe the dirt off the lens of lamp.Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it maylower the illumination.• Do not use gasoline, thinner or the like to clean the lensof lamp. Using such substances will damage the lens. |
