Let a hotbattery cartridge cool down before charging it.FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridge(Fig. 1)• Always switch off the tool before installing or removingof the battery cartridge.• To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from thetool while pressing the buttons on both sides of thecartridge.• To install the battery cartridge, hold it so that the batterycartridge front shape fits to that of the batteryinstallment opening and slip it into place. Always insertit all the way until it locks in place with a little click. Ifnot, it may accidentally fall out of the tool, causinginjury to you or someone around you.• Do not use force when installing the battery cartridge. Ifthe cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Battery protection systemThe tool is equipped with a battery protection system. Thissystem automatically cuts off power to the motor to extendbattery life.The tool will automatically stop during operation if the tooland/or battery are placed under one of the followingconditions:• Overloaded:The tool is operated in a manner that causes it todraw an abnormally high current. In this situation,release the switch trigger on the tool and stop theapplication that caused the tool to becomeoverloaded. Then pull the switch trigger again torestart.• Low battery voltage:The remaining battery capacity is too low and the toolwill not operate. If you pull the switch trigger, themotor runs again but stops soon. In this situation,remove and recharge the battery.Adjusting depth of cut (Fig. 2)CAUTION:• After adjusting the depth of cut, always tighten theclamping screw securely.Loosen the clamping screw on the depth guide and movethe base up or down. At the desired depth of cut, securethe base by tightening the clamping screw.Bevel cutting (Fig. 3)Loosen the clamping screw on the bevel scale plate onthe front of the base. Set for the desired angle (0° - 45°)by tilting accordingly, then tighten the clamping screwsecurely.Sighting (Fig. 4)For straight cuts, align the A position on the front of thebase with your cutting line. For 45° bevel cuts, align the Bposition with it.Switch action (Fig. 5)CAUTION:• Before installing the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch trigger actuatesproperly and returns to the “OFF” position whenreleased.• Do not pull the switch trigger hard without pressing thelock-off lever. This can cause switch breakage.To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off lever is provided. To start the tool, slidethe lock-off lever and pull the switch trigger.
