Failure to follow all instructionslisted below may result in electric shock, fire and/orserious injury.Save all warnings and instruc-tions for future reference.The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to yourmains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated(cordless)powertool.Cordless Metal Cutter safetywarningsCutting procedures1. DANGER: Keep hands away from cuttingarea and the blade. Keep your second handon auxiliary handle, or motor housing. If bothhands are holding the saw, they cannot be cut bythe blade.2. Do not reach underneath the workpiece. T h eguard cannot protect you from the blade below theworkpiece.3. Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness ofthe workpiece. Less than a full tooth of the bladeteeth should be visible below the workpiece.4. Never hold the workpiece in your hands oracross your leg while cutting. Secure theworkpiece to a stable platform. It i s i m p o r t a n t t osupport the work properly to minimise body expo-sure, blade binding, or loss of control.5. Hold the power tool by insulated grippingsurfaces, when performing an operation wherethe cutting tool may contact hidden wiring.Contactwitha“live”wirewillalsomakeexposedmetalpartsofthepowertool“live”andcouldgivetheoperatoranelectricshock.6. W hen ripping, always use a rip fence orstraight edge guide. This improves the accuracyof cut and reduces the chance of blade binding.7. Always use blades with correct size and shape(diamond versus round) of arbour holes. B l a d e sthatdonotmatchthemountinghardwareofthesaw will run off-centre, causing loss of control.8. Never use damaged or incorrect blade wash-ers or bolt. The blade washers and bolt werespecially designed for your saw, for optimumperformance and safety of operation.Kickback causes and related warnings— kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched,jammed or misaligned saw blade, causing anuncontrolledsawtoliftupandoutoftheworkpiecetowardtheoperator;— when the blade is pinched or jammed tightly by thekerf closing down, the blade stalls and the motorreaction drives the unit rapidly back toward theoperator;— if the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in thecut, the teeth at the back edge of the blade candigintothetopsurfaceoftheworkpiececausingthe blade to climb out of the kerf and jump backtowardtheoperator.Kickback is the result of saw misuse and/or incorrectoperating procedures or conditions and can be avoidedby taking proper precautions as given below.1. Maintain a firm grip with both hands on thesaw and position your arms to resist kickbackforces. Position your body to either side of theblade, but not in line with the blade. Kickbackcould cause the saw to jump backwards, butkickback forces can be controlled by the operator,ifproperprecautionsaretaken.2. W hen blade is binding, or when interrupting acut for any reason, release the trigger and holdthe saw motionless in the material until theblade comes to a complete stop. Never attemptto remove the saw from the work or pull thesaw backward while the blade is in motionor kickback may occur. In v e s t i g a t e a n d t a k ecorrective actions to eliminate the cause of bladebinding.3. W hen restarting a saw in the workpiece, centrethe saw blade in the kerf so that the saw teethare not engaged into the material. If a saw bladebinds, it may walk up or kickback from the work-pieceasthesawisrestarted.4. Support large panels to minimise the risk ofblade pinching and kickback. L a r g e p a n e l s t e n dto sag under their own weight. Supports must beplaced under the panel on both sides, near the lineofcutandneartheedgeofthepanel.5. Do not use dull or damaged blades.Unsharpened or improperly set blades producenarrow kerf causing excessive friction, bladebinding and kickback.6. Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking leversmust be tight and secure before making thecut. If blade adjustment shifts while cutting, it maycause binding and kickback.7. Use extra caution when sawing into existingwalls or other blind areas. The protruding blademay cut objects that can cause kickback.8. ALWAYS hold the tool firmly with both hands.NEVER place your hand, leg or any part of yourbody under the tool base or behind the saw,especially when making cross-cuts. If kickbackoccurs, the saw could easily jump backwards overyour hand, leading to serious personal injury.9. Never force the saw. Push the saw forward at aspeed so that the blade cuts without slowing.Forcing the saw can cause uneven cuts, loss ofaccuracy, and possible kickback.Lower guard function1. Check the lower guard for proper closingbefore each use. Do not operate the saw if thelower guard does not move freely and closeinstantly. Never clamp or tie the lower guardinto the open position. If the saw is accidentallydropped, the lower guard may be bent. Raise thelowerguardwiththeretractinghandleandmakesure it moves freely and does not touch the bladeor any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.
