10 ENGLISHProtections against other causesProtection system is also designed for other causes that coulddamage the tool and allows the tool to stop automatically.Take all the following steps to clear the causes, when the toolhas been brought to a temporary halt or stop in operation.1. Turn the tool off, and then turn it on again to restart.2. Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them withrecharged battery(ies).3. Let the tool and battery(ies) cool down.If no improvement can be found by restoring protectionsystem, then contact your local Makita Service Center.Indicating the remaining battery capacityPress the check button on the battery cartridge to indi-cate the remaining battery capacity. A switch witha negated lock-off button may result in unintentionaloperation and serious personal injury.WARNING: NEVER use the tool if it runs whenyou simply pull the switch trigger without press-ing the lock-off button. A switch in need of repairmay result in unintentional operation and seriouspersonal injury. Return tool to a Makita service centerfor proper repairs BEFORE further usage.To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off button is provided. This cancause switch breakage.CAUTION: The tool starts to brake the cir-cular saw blade rotation immediately after yourelease the switch trigger. Hold the tool firmly torespond the reaction of the brake when releasingthe switch trigger. Sudden reaction can drop the tooloff your hand and can cause a personal injury.Adjusting depth of cutCAUTION: After adjusting the depth of cut,always tighten the lever securely.Loosen the lever and move the base up or down. At thedesired depth of cut, secure the base by tightening thelever.For cleaner, safer cuts, set cut depth so that no morethan one blade tooth projects below workpiece. Usingproper cut depth helps to reduce potential for danger-ous KICKBACKS which can cause personal injury.► Fig.4: 1. Lever 2. Loosen 3. TightenSightingPlace the alignment point of the base on your intendedcutting line on the workpiece.The sight window in the base makes it easy to checkthe distance between the front edge of the circular sawblade and the workpiece whenever the circular sawblade is set to the maximum depth of cut.► Fig.5: 1. Front edge of the circularsaw bladeLighting the lampCAUTION: Do not look in the light or see thesource of light directly.To turn on the lamp without running the tool, pull theswitch trigger without pressing the lock-off button.To turn on the lamp with the tool running, press and holdthe lock-off button and pull the switch trigger.The lamp goes out 10 seconds after releasing theswitch trigger.► Fig.6: 1.
