ENGLISH8Important safety instructions forbattery cartridge1. Before using battery cartridge, read allinstructions and cautionary markings on (1)battery charger, (2) battery, and (3) productusing battery.2. Do not disassemble or tamper with the batterycartridge. It may result in a fire, excessive heat,or explosion.3. If operating time has become excessivelyshorter, stop operating immediately. It mayresult in a risk of overheating, possible burnsand even an explosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse themout with clear water and seek medical attentionright away. It may result in loss of youreyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with anyconductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in acontainer with other metal objects suchas nails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store and use the appliance and batterycartridge in locations where the temperaturemay reach or exceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop the batterycartridge, or hit against a hard object to thebattery cartridge. Such conduct may result in afire, excessive heat, or explosion.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries aresubject to the Dangerous Goods Legislationrequirements.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement onpackaging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped,consulting an expert for hazardous material isrequired. Please also observe possibly moredetailed national regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.11. When disposing the battery cartridge, removeit from the appliance and dispose of it in a safeplace. Follow your local regulations relating todisposal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita. Installing the batteriesto non-compliant products may result in a fire,excessive heat, explosion, or leak of electrolyte.13. If the appliance is not used for a long periodof time, the battery must be removed from theappliance.14. During and after use, the battery cartridgemay take on heat which can cause burns orlow temperature burns. Pay attention to thehandling of hot battery cartridges.15. Do not touch the terminal of the applianceimmediately after use as it may get hot enoughto cause burns.16. Do not allow chips, dust, or soil stuck into theterminals, holes, and grooves of the batterycartridge. It may result in poor performance orbreakdown of the appliance or battery cartridge.17. Unless the appliance supports the use nearhigh-voltage electrical power lines, do notuse the battery cartridge near high-voltageelectrical power lines. It may result in amalfunction or breakdown of the appliance orbattery cartridge.18. Keep the battery away from children.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries.Use of non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries thathave been altered, may result in the battery burstingcausing fires, personal injury and damage. It will alsovoid the Makita warranty for the Makita appliance andcharger.Tips for maintaining maximumbattery life1. Charge the battery cartridge before completelydischarged. Always stop appliance operationand charge the battery cartridge when younotice less appliance power.2. Never recharge a fully charged battery car-tridge. Overcharging shortens the batteryservice life.3. Charge the battery cartridge with room tem-perature at 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Leta hot battery cartridge cool down beforecharging it.4. When not using the battery cartridge, removeit from the appliance or the charger.5. Charge the battery cartridge if you do not useit for a long period (more than six months). |
