9Driving nailsCAUTION:• Always be sure to first place the contact elementagainst the workpiece before pulling the trigger.Select the nailing mode by pressing the mode selectingbutton as mentioned in the section “Nailing modeselection”.Intermittent nailing (sequential mode) (Fig. 15)To drive a nail, set the lock button to the “FREE” position.Place the contact element against the workpiece and pullthe trigger. Release the trigger after each operation.Continuous/intermittent nailing (continuous mode)(Fig. 16)When the tool is set to continuous mode, you can operateeither continuous or intermittent nailing.To drive a nail, set the lock button to the “FREE” position.- For continuous nailing, pull the trigger first and thenplace the contact element against the workpiece. Forthe next actuation, you do not need to release thetrigger.- For intermittent nailing, place the contact elementagainst the workpiece and pull the trigger. For the nextactuation, you need to reset the trigger first.NOTE:• This tool stops automatically under the followingconditions:- If you release the trigger or contact element fromworkpiece before the tool finishes the operationcompletely.In this situation, pull the trigger again until the tool turnsinto standby.- When keep either pulling the trigger or placing thecontact element about 5 seconds without anotheraction.In this case, release the trigger or the contact elementfrom workpiece to restart the operation.Anti dry fire mechanismThis tool is equipped with an anti dry fire mechanism. Itautomatically stops driving nails when the remaining nailsfinish. In this case, load more nails to resume operation.Removing jammed nailsWARNING:• Always make sure that the trigger is released, and thebattery cartridge and nails are removed beforeremoving jammed nails.Remove hex bolts they are securing the driver guidecover with the hex wrench.Take the jammed nails from the nail guide groove that hasappeared.Secure the driver guide cover with hex bolts in the correctorder. Tighten the hex bolt A, B and then C. (Fig. 17)NOTE:• After securing the driver guide cover, always make surethat the driver guide cover actuates properly. If it doesnot actuate properly, remove hex bolts and install thedriver guide cover again.Nails (Fig. 18)Handle nails and their box carefully. If the nails have beenhandled roughly, they may be out of shape or theirconnector breaks, causing poor nail feed.Avoid storing nails in a very humid or hot place or placeexposed to direct sunlight. (Fig. 19)MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge and nails are removed beforeattempting to perform inspection or maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.Cleaning of magazineWhen the pusher in the magazine does not movesmoothly because of dust, sand, chips or other foreignmatters, clean the magazine.To remove the slide door, loosen the hex bolt on themagazine. (Fig. 20)Pull the pusher from the slide door and then remove thestopper, sleeves and springs.After cleaning, install the whole parts into the slide door.To install them, take the following procedure. (Fig. 21)1. Install the large spring into the slide door.2. Install the parts onto the pusher in the correct order,sleeve, small spring and then stopper.3. Install the pusher with the other parts onto the slidedoor.NOTE:• When you pull out the pusher from the slide door, theparts in the slide door may bounce out.• When you install the pusher with the other parts to theslide door, make slight spaces between the pusher andsleeves.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should beperformed by Makita Authorized Service Centers, alwaysusing Makita replacement parts.OPTIONAL ACCESSORIESCAUTION:• These accessories or attachments are recommendedfor use with your Makita tool specified in this manual.The use of any other accessories or attachments mightpresent a risk of injury to persons.
