6 ENGLISHFUNCTIONALDESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andthe battery cartridge is removed before adjust-ing or checking function on the tool.Installing or removing batterycartridge123► 1. Battery cartridgeCAUTION:• Always switch off the tool before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• Hold the tool and the battery cartridge firmlywhen installing or removing battery car-tridge. Failure to hold the tool and the batterycartridge firmly may cause them to slip off yourhands and result in damage to the tool andbattery cartridge and a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the toolwhile sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Install it all the way until it locks in placewith a little click. If you can see the red indicator on theupper side of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION:• Always install the battery cartridge fully until thered indicator cannot be seen. If not, it may acci-dentally fall out of the tool, causing injury to youor someone around you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginstalled correctly.Indicating the remaining battery capacityOnly for battery cartridges with the indicator12► 1. Indicator lamps 2. Check buttonPress the check button on the battery cartridge to indi-cate the remaining battery capacity. The indicator lampslight up for a few seconds.Indicator lamps RemainingcapacityLighted Off Blinking75% to 100%50% to 75%25% to 50%0% to 25%Charge thebattery.The batterymay havemalfunctioned.NOTE: Depending on the conditions of use and theambient temperature, the indication may differ slightlyfrom the actual capacity.NOTE: The first (far left) indicator lamp will blink whenthe battery protection system works.Tool / battery protection systemThe tool is equipped with a tool/battery protection sys-tem. This system automatically cuts off the power toextend tool and battery life. The tool will automaticallystop during operation if the tool or battery is placedunder one of the following conditions:Overload protectionThis protection works when the tool is operated in amanner that causes it to draw an abnormally high cur-rent. In this situation, turn the tool off and stop the appli-cation that caused the tool to become overloaded. Thenturn the tool on to restart.
