5FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridgeFig.1• Always switch off the tool before insertion orremoval of the battery cartridge.• To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it fromthe tool while pressing the buttons on both sides ofthe cartridge.• To insert the battery cartridge, hold it so that thebattery cartridge front shape fits to that of thebattery installment opening and slip it into place.Always insert it all the way until it locks in placewith a little click. If not, it may accidentally fall out ofthe tool, causing injury to you or someone aroundyou.• Do not use force when inserting the batterycartridge. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, itis not being inserted correctly.Switch actionFig.2CAUTION:• Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch triggeractuates properly and returns to the "OFF" positionwhen released.To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Toolspeed is increased by increasing pressure on the switchtrigger. Release the switch trigger to stop.Turning on the front lampFig.3CAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of the lightdirectly.Pull the switch trigger to turn on the light. The lampkeeps on lighting while the switch trigger is being pulled.The lamp turns off 10 -15 seconds after releasing thetrigger.NOTE:• Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of lamp.Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it maylower the illumination.Reversing switch actionFig.4This tool has a reversing switch to change the directionof rotation. Depress the reversing switch lever from the Aside for clockwise rotation or from the B side forcounterclockwise rotation.When the reversing switch lever is in the neutral position,the switch trigger cannot be pulled.CAUTION:• Always check the direction of rotation beforeoperation.• Use the reversing switch only after the tool comesto a complete stop. Changing the direction ofrotation before the tool stops may damage the tool.• When not operating the tool, always set thereversing switch lever to the neutral position.Speed changeFig.5To change the speed, first switch off the tool and thenslide the speed change lever to the "2" side for highspeed or "1" side for low speed. Be sure that the speedchange lever is set to the correct position beforeoperation. Use the right speed for your job.CAUTION:• Always set the speed change lever fully to thecorrect position. If you operate the tool with thespeed change lever positioned halfway betweenthe "1" side and "2" side, the tool may bedamaged.• Do not use the speed change lever while the tool isrunning. The tool may be damaged.Adjusting the fastening torqueFig.6The fastening torque can be adjusted in 18 steps byturning the adjusting ring so that its graduations arealigned with the pointer on the tool body. The fasteningtorque is minimum when the number 1 is aligned withthe pointer, and maximum when the marking isaligned with the pointer.The clutch will slip at various torque levels when set atthe number 1 to 18. The clutch is designed not to slip atthe marking.Before actual operation, drive a trial screw into yourmaterial or a piece of duplicate material to determinewhich torque level is required for a particular application.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before carrying outany work on the tool.Installing or removing driver bit or drill bitFig.7Turn the sleeve counterclockwise to open the chuckjaws. Place the bit in the chuck as far as it will go. Turnthe sleeve clockwise to tighten the chuck.To remove the bit, turn the sleeve counterclockwise.
