8• Hold the tool and the battery cartridge firmly wheninstalling or removing battery cartridge. Failure tohold the tool and the battery cartridge firmly may causethem to slip off your hands and result in damage to thetool and battery cartridge and a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the tool whilesliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip itinto place. Insert it all the way until it locks in place with alittle click. If you can see the red indicator on the upperside of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION:• Always install the battery cartridge fully until the redindicator cannot be seen. If not, it may accidentally fallout of the tool, causing injury to you or someonearound you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being insertedcorrectly.Battery protection system (Lithium-ionbattery with star marking) (Fig. 2)Lithium-ion batteries with a star marking are equippedwith a protection system. This system automatically cutsoff power to the tool to extend battery life.The tool will automatically stop during operation if the tooland/or battery are placed under one of the followingconditions:• Overloaded:The tool is operated in a manner that causes it todraw an abnormally high current.In this situation, release the switch lever/trigger onthe tool and stop the application that caused the toolto become overloaded. Then pull the switch lever/trigger again to restart.If the tool does not start, the battery is overheated. Inthis situation, let the battery cool before pulling theswitch lever/trigger again.• Low battery voltage:The remaining battery capacity is too low and the toolwill not operate. In this situation, remove andrecharge the battery.Indicating the remaining battery capacity(Only for battery cartridges with “B” at the end of themodel number.) (Fig. 3)Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indicatethe remaining battery capacity. The indicator lamps lightup for few seconds.015658NOTE:• Depending on the conditions of use and the ambienttemperature, the indication may differ slightly from theactual capacity.Switch actionCAUTION:• Before installing the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch lever/triggeractuates properly and returns to the “OFF” positionwhen released. (Fig. 4)To prevent the switch lever/trigger from accidentallypulled, the lock-off lever/button are provided.To start the tool, pull either switch lever or trigger.• For the switch lever, pull the lock-off lever and then pullthe switch lever to start the tool.• For the switch trigger, depress the lock-off button andthen pull the switch trigger to start to the tool. The lock-off button can be pressed from either right or left.The tool speed is increased by increasing pressure on theswitch lever/trigger. Release the switch lever/trigger tostop.NOTICE:Do not pull the switch lever/trigger hard without pulling thelock-off lever/button. This can cause switch breakage.Lighting up the front lamp (Fig. 5)CAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of lightdirectly.Pull the switch lever/trigger to light up the lamp.
