RingWARNING: BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE HEXBOLT COUNTERCLOCKWISE SECURELY. Alsobe careful not to tighten the bolt forcibly. Slippingyour hand from the hex wrench can cause a per-sonal injury.WARNING: If the ring is needed to mount theblade onto the spindle, always be sure that thecorrect ring for the blade's arbor hole you intendto use is installed between the inner and the outerflanges. Use of the incorrect arbor hole ring mayresult in the improper mounting of the blade causingblade movement and severe vibration resulting inpossible loss of control during operation and in seri-ous personal injury.Blade guard cleaningWhen changing the circular saw blade, make sure toalso clean the upper and lower blade guards of accu-mulated sawdust as discussed in the Maintenancesection. Such efforts do not replace the need to checklower guard operation before each use.Connecting a vacuum cleanerNOTE: In some countries, the tool does not have thedust nozzle. When you wish to perform clean cutting operation, connect a Makita vacuum cleaner to your tool.► Fig.23: 1. Rubber cap► Fig.24: 1. Rubber cap 2. Vacuum cleaner 3. HoseRemove the rubber cap from the dust nozzle and con-nect the vacuum cleaner's hose as illustrated.NOTE: To prevent the rubber cap from being lost, store it on the front of the tool.NOTE: When not using the vacuum cleaner, attachthe rubber cap onto the dust nozzle.OPERATIONCAUTION: Be sure to move the tool forwardin a straight line gently. Forcing or twisting the toolwill result in overheating the motor and dangerouskickback, possibly causing severe injury.NOTE: When the battery cartridge temperature islow, the tool may not work to its full capacity. At thistime, for example, use the tool for a light-duty cut fora while until the battery cartridge warms up as highas room temperature. Then, the tool can work to itsfull capacity.► Fig.25Hold the tool firmly. The tool is provided with both a frontgrip and rear handle. Use both to best grasp the tool.If both hands are holding saw, they cannot be cut bythe circular saw blade. Set the base on the workpieceto be cut without the circular saw blade making anycontact. Then turn the tool on and wait until the circularsaw blade attains full speed. Now simply move the toolforward over the workpiece surface, keeping it flat andadvancing smoothly until the sawing is completed. To get clean cuts, keep your sawing line straight andyour speed of advance uniform. If the cut fails to prop-erly follow your intended cut line, do not attempt to turnor force the tool back to the cut line. Doing so may bindthe circular saw blade and lead to dangerous kickbackand possible serious injury. Release switch, wait for cir-cular saw blade to stop and then withdraw tool. Realigntool on new cut line, and start cut again. Attempt toavoid positioning which exposes operator to chips andwood dust being ejected from saw. Use eye protectionto help avoid injury.HookCAUTION: Always remove the batteries whenhanging the tool with the hook.CAUTION: Never hook the tool at high loca-tions or on the surfaces where the tool may losethe balance and fall.CAUTION: Do not pull the tool hookeddownward. The hook is convenient for hanging the tool temporarily. To use the hook, simply lift up hook until it snaps intothe open position. When not in use, always lower hook until it snaps intothe closed position.► Fig.26: 1. Hook► Fig.27Rip fence (Guide rule)Optional accessoryThe handy rip fence allows you to do extra-accuratestraight cuts. Simply slide the rip fence up snuglyagainst the side of the workpiece and secure it in posi-tion with the clamping screw on the front of the base. Italso makes repeated cuts of uniform width possible.► Fig.28: 1. Rip fence (Guide rule) 2. Clamping screw |
