BoltNOTE: The trimmer shoe is factory installed on thetilt base.Adjusting trimmer bit protrusionTo adjust the bit protrusion, loosen the thumb nut andmove the base up or down as desired by turning theadjusting screw. After adjusting, tighten the thumb nutfirmly to secure the base.► Fig.24: 1. Base 2. Scale 3. Bit protrusion 4. Thumbnut 5. Adjusting screwAdjusting angle of baseLoosen the wing bolts and adjust the angle of the base(5° per graduation) to obtain the desired cutting angle.► Fig.25: 1. Wing bolt 2. Graduation 3. Wing nut4. Trimmer shoe 5. Amount of chamfering6. BaseAdjusting amount of chamferingCAUTION: Turn off the tool, loosen the colletnut on the tool to be sure that the trimmer bitturns freely and does not contact the base ortrimmer shoe in any way.To adjust the amount of chamfering, loosen the wingnuts and adjust the trimmer shoe.Operation1. Set the base on the workpiece to be cut withoutthe trimmer bit making any contact.2. Turn the tool on and wait until the trimmer bitattains full speed.3. Move the tool backward over the workpiecesurface, keeping the base and trimmer shoe flush andadvancing smoothly until the cutting is complete.► Fig.26: 1. Trimmer shoe 2. BaseWhen doing edge cutting, the workpiece surface shouldbe on the underside of the trimmer bit in the feeddirection.► Fig.27: 1. Workpiece 2. Bit revolving direction3. View from the top of the tool 4. FeeddirectionWhen using the trimmer shoe, straight guide or thetrimmer guide, be sure to keep it on the right side in thefeed direction. This will help to keep it flush with the sideof the workpiece.► Fig.28: 1. Feed direction 2. Bit revolving direction3. Workpiece 4. Straight guideNOTE: Moving the tool forward too fast may causea poor quality of cut, or damage to the trimmer bit ormotor. Moving the tool forward too slowly may burnand mar the cut.The proper feed rate will depend on the bit size, thekind of workpiece and depth of cut. Before beginning the cut on the actual workpiece, make a sample cut on a piece of scrap lumber toconsider the appropriate feed speed. You can also confirm the trimmer bit setting by mea-suring the sample cut.Templet guideThe templet guide provides a sleeve through which thetrimmer bit passes, allowing use of the trimmer withtemplet patterns.► Fig.291. Remove the tilt base from the tool, and remove thetrimmer shoe from the tilt base.► Fig.302. Loosen the wing bolts and secure the base hor-izontally. Loosen the two screws on the base using ascrewdriver.► Fig.31: 1. Screws 2. Wing bolt 3. Base4. Screwdriver3. Place the templet guide on the base. There arefour convex portions on the templet guide. Secure twoof the four convex portions using the two screws. Installthe base on the tool.► Fig.32: 1. Base 2. Convex portions 3. Templet guide4. Screws4. Secure the templet to the workpiece. Place thetool on the templet and move the tool with the templetguide sliding along the side of the templet.► Fig.33: 1. Trimmer bit 2. Base 3. Templet4. Workpiece 5. Templet guideNOTE: The workpiece will be cut a slightly differentsize from the templet. Allow for the distance (X)between the trimmer bit and the outside of the templetguide. The distance (X) can be calculated by usingthe following equation:Distance (X) = (outside diameter of the templetguide - trimmer bit diameter) / 2 |
