11 ENGLISHGuard function1. Check the guard for proper closing beforeeach use. Do not operate the saw if the guarddoes not move freely and enclose the bladeinstantly. Never clamp or tie the guard so thatthe blade is exposed. If the saw is accidentallydropped, the guard may be bent. Check to makesure that the guard moves freely and does nottouch the blade or any other part, in all angles anddepths of cut.2. Check the operation and condition of theguard return spring. If the guard and the springare not operating properly, they must be ser-viced before use. The guard may operate slug-gishly due to damaged parts, gummy deposits, ora build-up of debris.3. Assure that the base plate of the saw will notshift while performing a “plunge cut”. Bladeshifting sideways will cause binding and likely kickback.4. Always observe that the guard is covering theblade before placing the saw down on benchor floor. An unprotected, coasting blade will causethe saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is inits path. Be aware of the time it takes for the bladeto stop after the switch is released.Additional safety warnings1. Use extra caution when cutting damp wood, pressure treated lumber, or wood containingknots. Maintain smooth advancement of tool with-out decrease in blade speed to avoid overheatingthe blade tips and if cutting plastics, to avoid melt-ing the plastic.2. Do not attempt to remove cut material whenblade is moving. Wait until blade stops beforegrasping cut material. Blades coast after turn off.3. Avoid cutting nails. Inspect for and remove allnails from lumber before cutting.4. Place the wider portion of the saw base onthat part of the workpiece which is solidlysupported, not on the section that will fall offwhen the cut is made. If the workpiece is shortor small, clamp it down. DO NOT TRY TO HOLDSHORT PIECES BY HAND!► Fig.55. Before setting the tool down after completing acut, be sure that the guard has closed and theblade has come to a complete stop.6. Never attempt to saw with the circular sawheld upside down in a vise. This is extremelydangerous and can lead to serious accidents.► Fig.67. Some material contains chemicals which maybe toxic. Take caution to prevent dust inhala-tion and skin contact. Follow material suppliersafety data.8. Do not stop the blades by lateral pressure onthe saw blade.9. Do not use any abrasive wheels.10. Only use the saw blade with the diameter thatis marked on the tool or specified in the man-ual. Use of an incorrectly sized blade may affectthe proper guarding of the blade or guard opera-tion which could result in serious personal injury.11. Keep blade sharp and clean. Gum and woodpitch hardened on blades slows saw andincreases potential for kickback. Keep blade cleanby first removing it from tool, then cleaning it withgum and pitch remover, hot water or kerosene.Never use gasoline.12. Wear a dust mask and hearing protection whenuse the tool.13. Always use the saw blade intended for cuttingthe material that you are going to cut.14. Only use the saw blades that are marked witha speed equal or higher than the speed markedon the tool.15. (For European countries only)Always use the blade which conforms toEN847-1.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.WARNING: DO NOT let comfort or familiaritywith product (gained from repeated use) replacestrict adherence to safety rules for the subjectproduct. MISUSE or failure to follow the safetyrules stated in this instruction manual may causeserious personal injury.Important safety instructions forbattery cartridge1. Before using battery cartridge, read all instruc-tions and cautionary markings on (1) batterycharger, (2) battery, and (3) product usingbattery.2. Do not disassemble battery cartridge.3. If operating time has become excessivelyshorter, stop operating immediately. It mayresult in a risk of overheating, possible burnsand even an explosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse themout with clear water and seek medical atten-tion right away. It may result in loss of youreyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-ductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-tainer with other metal objects such asnails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge inlocations where the temperature may reach orexceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.9. Do not use a damaged battery.
