Then connect ahose of the vacuum cleaner to the dust nozzle as shownin the figure.OPERATIONCAUTION:• Always insert the battery cartridge all the way until itlocks in place. If you can see the red part on the upperside of the button, it is not locked completely. Insert itfully until the red part cannot be seen. If not, it mayaccidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury to you orsomeone around you.• Be sure to move the tool forward in a straight linegently. Forcing or twisting the tool will result inoverheating the motor and dangerous kickback,possibly causing severe injury.• If the tool is operated continuously until the batterycartridge has discharged, allow the tool to rest for15 minutes before proceeding with a fresh battery.(Fig. 21)Hold the tool firmly. The tool is provided with both a frontgrip and rear handle. Use both to best grasp the tool. Ifboth hands are holding saw, they cannot be cut by theblade. Set the base on the workpiece to be cut without theblade making any contact. Then turn the tool on and waituntil the blade attains full speed. Now simply move thetool forward over the workpiece surface, keeping it flatand advancing smoothly until the sawing is completed.To get clean cuts, keep your sawing line straight and yourspeed of advance uniform. If the cut fails to properly followyour intended cut line, do not attempt to turn or force thetool back to the cut line. Doing so may bind the blade andlead to dangerous kickback and possible serious injury.Release switch, wait for blade to stop and then withdrawtool. Realign tool on new cut line, and start cut again.Attempt to avoid positioning which exposes operator tochips and wood dust being ejected from saw. Use eyeprotection to help avoid injury.Rip fence (Guide rule) (Fig. 22)The handy rip fence allows you to do extra-accuratestraight cuts. Simply slide the rip fence up snugly againstthe side of the workpiece and secure it in position with thescrew on the front of the base. It also makes repeatedcuts of uniform width possible.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before attempting toperform inspection or maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.Adjusting for accuracy of 90° and 45° cut(vertical and 45° cut)For Model DSS610This adjustment has been made at the factory. But if it isoff, adjust the adjusting screws with a hex wrench whileinspecting 90° or 45° the blade with the base using atriangular rule or square rule, etc.Adjusting for accuracy of 90° cut (verticalcut)For Model DSS611This adjustment has been made at the factory. But if it isoff, adjust the adjusting screws with a hex wrench whileinspecting 90° the blade with the base using a triangularrule or square rule, etc. (Fig. 23 & 24)Replacing carbon brushes (Fig. 25)Remove and check the carbon brushes regularly. Replacewhen they wear down to the limit mark. Keep the carbonbrushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbonbrushes should be replaced at the same time. Use onlyidentical carbon brushes.Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Takeout the worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones andsecure the brush holder caps.
