7FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridge1 23014650CAUTION:• Always switch off the tool before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• Hold the tool and the battery cartridge firmlywhen installing or removing battery cartridge.Failure to hold the tool and the battery cartridgefirmly may cause them to slip off your hands andresult in damage to the tool and battery cartridgeand a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the toolwhile sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in placewith a little click. If you can see the red indicator on theupper side of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION:• Always install the battery cartridge fully until thered indicator cannot be seen. If not, it mayaccidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury toyou or someone around you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.NOTE:• The tool does not work with only one batterycartridge.Tool / battery protection systemThe tool is equipped with a tool/battery protectionsystem. This system automatically cuts off power to themotor to extend tool and battery life.The tool will automatically stop during operation if thetool or battery are placed under one of the followingconditions. In some conditions, the indicators light up.Overload protectionWhen the tool is operated in a manner that causes it todraw an abnormally high current, the tool automaticallystops without any indication. In this situation, turn thetool off and stop the application that caused the tool tobecome overloaded. Then turn the tool on to restart.Overheat protection for battery / toolWhen the battery / tool is overheated, the tool stopsautomatically without any indication. The tool does notstart even if pulling the switch trigger. In this situation,let the battery / tool cool before turning the tool on again.NOTE:The battery overheat protection works only with abattery cartridge with a star marking.1012128Overdischarge protection1014658When the remaining battery capacity gets low, thebattery indicator blinks on the applicable battery side.By further use, the tool stops and the battery indicatorlights up about 10 seconds. In this situation, charge thebattery cartridge.Switch actionCAUTION:• Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch triggeractuates properly and returns to the "OFF"position when released.1.
