Normal round files arenot suitable.— Diameter of the roundfile for eachsaw chain isas follows:• Chainblade 90PX :4.5 mm• Chainblade 91PX :4.0 mm• Chainblade 25AP :4.0 mm— The file should onlyengage the cutteron the forwardstroke. Lift thefile off thecutter on thereturn stroke.— Sharpen the shortest cutterfirst. Then thelength of this shortest cutterbecomes the standard for all other cutters onthe saw chain.— Guide the file asshown in thefigure.► Fig.27: 1. File 2. Saw chain— The file can be guidedmore easily if afile holder (optionalaccessory) is employed. Thefile holder has markingsfor the correct sharpening angle of 30° (align themarkings parallel to the saw chain) and limits thedepth of penetration (to 4/5of the file diameter).► Fig.28: 1. File holder— After sharpening the chain, check the height of thedepth gauge using the chain gauge tool (optionalaccessory).► Fig.29— Remove any projecting material, however small, with aspecial flat file (optionalaccessory).— Round off the front of the depth gauge again.Cleaning the guide barChips and sawdust will build up in the guide bar groove. They may clog the bargroove and impair the oilflow. Clean out the chips and sawdust every timewhen you sharpen or replace the saw chain. ►Fig.30Cleaning the sprocket coverChips and saw dust will accumulate inside of thesprocket cover. Remove the sprocket cover and sawchain from the tool then clean the chips and saw dust.► Fig.31Cleaning the oil discharge holeSmall dust or particles may be built up in the oildischarge hole during operation. These dust or particlesmay impair the oil to flow andcause an insufficient lubrication onthe whole saw chain. When a poor chain oildelivery occurs at the top of guide bar, clean the oildischarge hole as follows.1. Remove the sprocket cover and saw chain fromthe tool.2. Remove the small dust or particles using a slottedscrewdriver or the like.► Fig.32: 1. Slotted screwdriver 2. Oildischarge hole3. Insert the battery cartridge into the tool. Pull theswitch trigger to flowbuilt-up dust or particlesoff the oil dischargehole by discharging chain oil.4. Remove the battery cartridge from the tool.Reinstall the sprocket cover and saw chain on the tool.CAUTION: A worn sprocket will damage a newsaw chain. Have the sprocket replaced in this case. Before fitting a new sawchain, check the conditionof the sprocket.► Fig.33: 1. Sprocket 2.
