16NOTE:• Do not expand the wire guard outward too much.Otherwise it may break.Fig.25When wire guard is not in use, lift it for the idle position.Installing nylon cutting headCAUTION:• If during operation the nylon cutting headaccidentally impacts a rock or hard object thetrimmer should be stopped and inspected for anydamage. If the nylon cutting head is damaged itshould be replaced immediately. Use of a damagednylon cutting head could result in serious personal injury.NOTICE:• Be sure to use genuine Makita nylon cutting head.Turn the tool upside down so that you can replace thenylon cutting head easily.Fig.26Insert the hex wrench through the hole on the protectorcover and rotate the receive washer until it is lockedwith the hex wrench. The nylon cutting head onto thethreaded spindle directly and tighten it by turning itcounterclockwise. Remove the hex wrench.To remove the nylon cutting head, turn the nylon cuttinghead clockwise while holding the receive washer withthe hex wrench.Installing the cutter blade (country specific)WARNING:• The outside diameter of the cutter blade mustbe 230 mm. Never use any blade exceeding 230mm in outside diameter.CAUTION:• The cutter blade must be well polished, free ofcracks or breakage. Polish or replace the cutterblade every three hours of operation.• Always wear gloves when handling the cutter blade.• Always attach the blade cover when the tool is notin use or is being transported.• The cutter blade-fastening nut (with spring washer)wears out in course of time. If there appears any wearor deformation on the spring washer, replace the nut.Ask your local authorized service center to order it.NOTICE:• Be sure to use genuine Makita cutter blade.Turn the tool upside down so that you can replace thecutter blade easily.Fig.27To dismount the cutter blade, insert the hex wrenchthrough the hole on the protector cover and the gearcase. Rotate the receive washer until it is locked withthe hex wrench. Loosen the hex nut (left-hand thread)with the socket wrench and remove the nut, clampwasher and hex wrench.Fig.28Mount the cutter blade onto the shaft so that the guideof the receive washer fits in the arbor hole in the cutterblade. Install the clamp washer and secure the cutterblade with the hex nut with 13 to 23 Nm of tighteningtorque during holding the receive washer with hexwrench.Fig.29Make sure that the blade is the left way up.Hex wrench storageFig.30When not in use, store the hex wrench as shown in thefigure to keep it from being lost.OPERATIONCorrect handling of tool (DUR361U)Correct postureWARNING:• Always position the tool on your right-hand sideso that the shaft of the left handle is always infront of your body. Correct positioning of the toolallows for maximum control and will reduce the risk ofserious personal injury caused by kickback.Fig.31As shown in the figure fit the shoulder harness andhang the tool firmly on your right side so that the shaft ofthe left handle is always ahead of you.Attachment of shoulder harnessFig.32Wear the shoulder harness on your back and buckle itup until a click is heard. Make sure that it cannot betaken off with pulling it off. Hang the tool as shown.WARNING:• Be extremely careful to maintain control of the toolat this time. Do not allow the tool to be deflectedtoward you or anyone in the work vicinity. Failureto do so could result in serious injury.Adjustment of the hanger position and shoulderharnessWhen replacing battery or accessories with others, theweight balance of the tool may change. In such case,adjust the hanger position and shoulder harness lengthas follows.To change the hanger position, loosen the fixing screwon the hanger with the supplied wrench and then movethe hanger and the cushion.
